Stop in for a cup of coffee

We have been trying to select renters for one of the houses we rent down in Ark. we were bombarded with applications, oddly several were folks moving out of California. Having lived in Oregon for many years I fully recognize the migration out but holy smokes, to Ark? That seemed odd.
That’s where the wife and I have been gandering at for retirement. Pension isn’t Going to be enough to stay here. Plus the political crap here has got us, well that’s all I have to say about that.......

.
I always try to rent to Military Families. They are quite reliable. I use the websites AHRN and Military by Owner to advertise. Right now I have an Army LTC here, has signed a two year lease, Quality guy and family...
I wish we had a base closer to our rentals but no such luck. Typically we get a lot of Walmartians seeings how we are in North West Ark.

Send me a PM if you would like. Our family is all from Ark I can give you a lot of info on the area. We just purchased another 60 acres down there as well. It is beautiful and very Retirement friendly from a fiscal standpoint.

Can you get one of those torpedo space heaters for the garage????

If I were to go south, Alabama or the Florida Panhandle for me. But I want to retire AWAY from people, so I'm looking Northern Montana, Maybe the Dakotas.

Ohhh. Sorry, can't post a like on that. We have many Military Installations around the Washington D.C. , Baltimore, Annapolis area. I am closest to Annapolis, Out in the countryside...Gods country ya know.....

I'm not sure how those views will mix in Arkansas??

I’m still realistically 6years out so I will definitely be in touch as the time approaches.

I sure wouldn't mind living further south. The older you get the harder the winters are.

I've got a plan to retire by the time I'm 53 at the latest. With an income from investments equaling my current salary level, adjusted for inflation. I'm working a plan to speed that up to 45. Its required a LOT of discipline since I started this in May. But so far, so good.

I am worried if the Dems get back in at some point and raise taxes. That will greatly hinder my progress on that.

The mass migration from LA and Orange County in the early 80s sure mucked up this previously rural area. I see the same thing happening in the San Joaquin Valley. They spread LA with them! :BangHead:
because the dumbasses bring their looney tunes ideas with them. They refuse to learn from past mistakes.

We only get a bad winter every so often here, near the Beautiful Chesapeake Bay. Last winter we had no measurable snowfall. But sometimes we will get hammered a couple a times a winter with a few feet of the white stuff. Problem is the cost of living here. Quite high, also pretty blue politics around here....

I used to enjoy the snow. I skied until my late 30s. Lake Tahoe and the Sierras made for nice winter ski vacations. Being California with it's uncommon weather patterns it was always a crapshoot what you would run into once you got into the mountains. The big eye opener was Lake Tahoe one trip removing 3' over night from the top of the Cherokee and moving the 4' snow berm that the plow had pushed behind it in the parking lot . Wife and I left here to go to Tahoe in January one ski season in our rag top Mustang. We got over the hills into the San Joaquin Valley and "Can you stop and put the top up? It's too hot."

Looking for things to keep me occupied today, my place or employment is shut down because 3 employees tested positive. Kids are at school, I'm not used to having this much free time.

I think I'll look around for some other parts to sell. I have photos of a grill and some other pieces someone may need.

The goal today is to not hear the Pig Whistle! We have meetings all day over house and shop plans. Wife has procrastinated long enough on color of house and shop she has stalled forward progress!

Your in the right place to waste time, like a Seinfeld episode here.
