Horsepower 410 stroker build

I'm using one of those as well. I kinda went overkill on my kit. I got the Scat kit with forged crank and pistons. I'm planning on spraying it so wanted the extra strength. Kinda why I'm leery on the factory bolts

I don't believe I would run a baffled pan AND a windage tray.

Would they be the same torque spec as the ARPs?

Those will be probably the same torque as factory. They appear to be the factory 340 cap bolts for use with a windage tray. I thought somebody still made them.

I don't remember seeing a stock bolt with a washer though. Did they make stock or stock replacements with washers? They don't have that classic ARP look from the photo either, so maybe they are a stock replacement.

You should always use factory torque specs unless the fastener company gives you a reason to do otherwise.

I don't remember either, but I wouldn't over think it. What's the factory torque spec? 85 LB FT. They ain't comin loose. lol

If you don't have a tray: Mopar Performance Windage Tray

Like me, I bought the kit and don't remember what I did with the original bolts. You find trays for sale but the special main bolts are still holding a crankshaft in somewhere. LOL

I just run a baffled pan and studs. Not sure how a windage tray would add to that...any oil getting to my crank is coming from above and I would think a tray would exacerbate the problem by trapping pooled oil closer to the crank allowing it to be whipped up again.

Maybe I am visualizing this wrong ?

I run a baffled pan, crank scraper and a windage tray.

And that came straight from Kevin Johnson at I-J crank scrapers.

Pan baffles have nothing to do with windage trays.

OP, what’s wrong with the Chrysler bolts? They are very good. In fact, I doubt the ARP bolts are any better.

Opinions vary. I gave mine and I'm stickin with it. I don't know Kevin Johnson and I don't give a **** who he is.

Honestly nothing just didnt want to overstressed them. I'm not 100% sure what their strengths are. Like I said it's a 408 with spray. If everyone thinks I'll be ok then I'll use what I have

He gets paid by many high end racing teams and OE’s to fix oiling issues.

You should listen to him. He’s forgotten more about oil, oiling and oil systems than everyone on this board put together and then some.

I'm sure. I'll never run fast enough to need his help, so I don't care.

Are you talking about USED main bolts? "I" would not do that......and I reuse a lot of stuff. That's a lot of money you have in that thing to trust it to used main bolts. The stud kit AND line honing are cheaper than damage from a broken main bolt. Just food for thought.
