Hey guys so I had the transmission rebuilt and got everything back together and I have no reverse, after dropping the pan this is what I found. Is this repairable in the car and seems like they're is no tension on the rear band at all

I'm no trans specialist...but the strut, or flat pc of steel, is what holds that in place over the spring.
Do I have access to it while it is still in the car or maybe can I remove the valve body to get to it? I'm guessing it fell out or something?

The band may be broke I think you have to take it apart
Really?! Damn and I bought this transmission rebuilt from a shop, so regardless it has to come out? Anyway to tell if the band is broken with it in the car?

A shop? Yup, that's why we are so willing to help folks rebuild their own. You could rebuild it for 1/10 the cost and probably not screw it up any worse than they did. You can get the strut in without dropping the trans; just the valve body, then back off the adjuster enough to get the strut back in. You'll need three hands...or maybe a pair of sideways needlenose pliers.

Wonderful and yeah I going to learn how to rebuild em on my old one. But the only thing I found in the pan was a valve body screw, so where could the flat strut be? Stuck somewhere?

Get ahold of who built it. There must be some kind of warranty. Kim
The guy said because I put my deep pan on and not use the one it came with, voids the warranty. I'm going to pull valve body and see if strut just needs to go back in

The California in me is coming out....

Where on the warrentee card or paperwork does it say the warrentee is void if the pan is replaced?

Just pulled the valve body down and I found the little strut,it was laying on top , am I able to just install that back in? Can it be done in the car? Trying to find a picture of how it goes

And you bought it anyway.

If anxiety was a photo, check the ends of the band. If they're good pop the strut in and check how it seats (is the strut bent at all?), if it's not bent and seats okay you should be good. It can all be done with the trans in the car. Just had the same issue with a 727.

Well so I pulled the valve body like I said found the strut, so I loosened the band adjuster all the way and used a flathead screw driver to push it up in there ehileninuse my other hand yo hold arm back. Click it went right into place and it wasn't bent at all. I double checked and the adjusted to torque specs on the adjuster. My only concern now is where did that valve body bolt come from I found in the pan... Checked it and looks to have all of them?

I bought it and never got the details to the warranty. Not until I called to talk to them on the phone when they told me the whole pan thing, he trying comparing it to switching out a rod in a block? Not really happy with his response. I know I should of been more aware and detailed when buying it. Should of asked about the warranty from begining but still stupid

When I bought it , it had a deep pan on it already but no extension for pick up? That's why I just put my setup on

Won't be able to check it till tomorrow when I get up, just have to reattached kickdown and shift cable I'll report back

Do inquiries concerning the warranty actually void said warranty? But, really, like I tell people; warranty? Why would you want me working on your trans AGAIN if I screwed it up so bad the first time that you had to take it back out?

Sounds like a BS story about he warranty.

I like to operate that big lever manually a few times to make sure the strut is in place and band is centered on the drum before adjusting.

He may have had the strut not in correctly and it came out. Things can happen.

Good job fixing it.

So guys I reassembled everything out fluid back in and BAM! I have all gears and she shifts very nice, smooth firm shifts. Need to adjust my shift cable alignment a wee bit but other than that she's back on the road so I can continue with the build plan and bolt ons. Thank you guys again for the help and input I always appreciate it
