That car is bullshit. It sounds horrible and didn't perform as well as the General Mayhem 3.0 with a basic 440.
I did see that episode too. Looks like deathmetal needs some suspension work but the builders had a great time with it and I enjoyed the episode.

And yes, it sounds less than great IMO

Hey all

I made a post to this forum about a month ago in search of help/advice. Normally when I speak to other car enthusiasts, they’re pretty happy to find that a younger person like myself is into these older cars, and they’re glad I’m doing my best to keep them on the road. I did not see this type of response on this forum, and it made me feel ashamed to even be part of the Mopar community.

Since I’m currently engineless and can’t get hold of a working slant six, I was tossing around the idea of LS swapping my Valiant, and wanted to know if anyone had any leads on a potential swap kit. I had no expectations of there being such a kit, but thought I’d ask anyway. Apart from a few helpful replies from members such as @RustyRatRod and others, I was mainly met with loads of angry replies and just plain bullying. To quote one member’s reply: “You know the sound of the cork coming out of the wine bottle, do you suppose a guy here’s that after he pulls his head out of his butt after realizing he should ask such dumbass questions on a Mopar forum?” Other replies consisted of belittling my abilities and questioning my intelligence.

Being part of a community is about supporting others in the community. Sure some people may have differing opinions, but in the end we all want the same thing: to see Mopars on the road rather than rotting away in a field or being crushed in a junkyard. I’d rather have that no matter what engine is powering it. I find it incredibly sad and pathetic that upon seeking advice from other enthusiasts, I was met with hatred and an inability to accept others’ ideas. The replies I received discouraged me from even wanting to get my car back on the road. I have never seen this much unsupportive behavior towards another member from any part of the car community, or any other non-automotive community for that matter. I am expecting this post to receive a few similar replies as my previous one. To those of you who comment things like this: you know who you are, be better.

He's simply not been here long enough to know what a fantastic community this is. He's not seen any of the wonderful benefit auctions for members in need. The fact that this whole forum came together and got our beloved @memike a great little car. And on and on and on. We're a big family and we agree, disagree, love, fuss and fight just like a real family. If he hangs out long enough, he'll see that.
Yes, this is so true, we all have jumped in many times to help our members, and I was blessed with a great car that has filled my life with happiness and faith of humanity.
Anyone that thinks this site is something to be ashamed of and not wanting to be a part of is just not educated of what goes on here.
Thank you brother, its been a great ride here in my life , nothing but total respect to you and our members.
The day @smallblock Bill Stone took my wife and I to pick my 66 Valiant up in Troy Missouri from another member @roy and Sandy 17 or more years ago.
Thanks to all the members involved

Sounds like you REALLY didn't want another slant six because it's not fast and loud enough for you so you opted for what would be the fastest and loudest option and now you're mad because a bunch of members here didn't help you justify what you REALLY wanted.

If you couldn't get a slant six which is highly doubtful, there are still a lot of other options that would be cheap and very easy but seems even those would still be too conservative for what you REALLY want.

Just do what you REALLY want and don't worry about validation from others.

So what the heck man? When you gonna bust off that 360? lol

Exactly why our family drove Mopars back then. Hell, you could buy one for 50 bucks less than 10 years old and stockpile used parts.
Yeah , I remember there was this thing where, noone wanted to work on Mopar or didnt know how to work on Mopar, everyone was a Chevy guy for some reason. A friend in High school always ran Mopar big blocks, he'd call me up and say "hey, ya want a 360...? well come get it..." I'd have a small block for free or dirt cheap...318s were like always free... still are if you look, I saw a guy on here giving one away not too long ago...

So I’ve finally had the time to read through most of your replies. I would like to say that I never meant to come across as whiny or complaining about my feelings. Nor did I mean to insult the group as a whole. In retrospect, I probably should’ve worded my post a little differently. This forum has often given me great advice, and I’ve met plenty of helpful, friendly people on here. The intent of this post was to highlight the childish behavior that a few members showed when commenting on my previous post. Again, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I was not surprised to see people angry at the idea of a Chevy engine going into a Mopar. Jokes are always appreciated, and I of course take into account the advice/ideas of others. However, insulting replies do not provide help or constructive criticism and can be off putting to newcomers.

@JGizmo, that was a VERY well written post. It got your point across in a direct but polite way. As someone who likes to choose words carefully, I say well done. Don't be ashamed of the community. Most of us agree that if it your car, build it the way you want. However, most of us are also going to be pretty hard core on keeping a Mopar engine in it. I remember the thread. There were a few potty mouth, rude comments, but most were just trying to convince you to keep the car all Mopar. I weighed in saying that by the time you had to deal with all the fabrication/mounting problems, wiring differences, etc., etc., etc., It would likely be cheaper to find and install a Mopar engine. They are out there. And speaking of rude, potty mouth comments, there was a guy on here a while back who was bad mouthing everybody (in a rude, nasty and foul manner) who was doing anything to their car that he disagreed with. Things like putting a 340 in a 63 Valiant, putting a modern Hemi or modern fuel injected engine in any A body, putting 17" (or larger) wheels on their car, etc., etc., etc. I just blocked him. Don't be discouraged by a few negative comments. Most of us ARE happy to have young guns AND women join the forum. There may be a few people on this forum who can get a bit grumpy (hey, most of us are old), but we don't mean anything by it. If someone says, "An LS in a Mopar? Why would you want to do that? Please keep it all Mopar", I bet they are just expressing their thoughts, but they 100% support your right to do what you want with your car. In fact, although I am not a big fan of putting non-Mopar engines in Mopars, if that was what you wanted to do, and you lived fairly close to me, I would come over and help you do it! And we would get along fine. I bet there are people on this forum who live near you who would offer to help.
Your opinion is yours and I am not ashamed to say I disagree 100% with you

I'd rather see you put a bowtie 350 in instead of an LS.
The 350 would be less expensive than a LS or small block Mopar.
The aftermarket is very kind to the small block chevy in parts and your wallet.

Interestingly enough, I got a call from somebody that I don't know just last Friday looking to sell a slant in the 209 area code (not sure what town). Then, out of the blue I got a call from cudajim yesterday looking for one. The point being there are a lot of people out there who know me AND have my phone number (I have friends in this hobby that I've known since the 1970s). I don't know where the guy selling the slant got my number, but I've known cudajim for nearly 40 years.

That's how this (or any) hobby works. Names being out there and that takes time. 40 years ago there were still lots of parts in salvage yards up and down the valley. Now, there's just a few places left, so knowing people is the way it works now. Trying to do this without knowing people is much harder these days.

As for putting an LS where a Mopar engine used to be, I do know a guy who now lives (or works) in Patterson. BUT, his is an all-out race truck (seen on one of the Street Outlaw type shows a couple of years ago - I think he broke it). I'd never do it, but I know why he did. Also, until trying to make real power, there's no reason to reinvent the wheel. The LS has a ton of aftermarket support, but if you want under 400hp any V8 family can do that.

All you really had to say is I voluntarily live in California and it all would have made sense as to your confusion and misguidedness

Use the mechanical parts for sale here, ******* insulting people whom you are asking for help is just plain stupid.
:(

There were plenty of helpful replies which I appreciate. I asked for help and people provided great resources and advice. This post was in no way complaining or insulting these people. When I asked for help a good amount of people resorted to insulting me. That’s what this post is about.

Still be a POS Chevy product in a Mopar and would be viewed as such appropriately by many

Heres my response pic to this below. Heres the thing. You want to put an LS in a mopar, join an LS swap forum. This is why guys here gave you hell over it. You could buy a mopar 360 or 5.9L magnum engine, and a 1991-1994 3 pin A518 automatic O/D trans out of a dodge pickup or ram van and do a damn near bolt in requiring a little trans crossmember work, and find headers that bolt right on, and a bunch of bolt on parts that let you keep it all mopar, and run a carburetor or fast EFI setup

Your language is passive and femine beyond belief. Your feelings are irrelevant, nobody cares.

A qualified apology is not an apology. You get back what you give out.

Respect is earned, never given freely. Spend some time in a blue collar environment or the service. The world of reality is far different from grade school teachers.

Get the book Extreme Ownership by Joco Willink and read it. Can you live it for one month?

I am neither confused or misguided. Certain members of this group stoop down to insulting others when someone they have a differing opinion, and it is embarrassing.

I have no respect for people who insult others because they have different ideas. “You get back what you give out.” Others insulted me for my opinion, so they can expect to be treated similarly.

When I was a kid, I asked why that mean kid kicked me in the balls, she said son " the answer is easy, YOU told him you wanted to drop a chevy motor in your Mopar!"

I might add, mention such in the General Discussion area, and you will no doubt get all kinds of remarks, some not kind!! Lesson learned??

I still want to know WHY that Dulchick and his boss Fullburger, dropped the hemi in that 55 Chevy!!!!! Blame it on Hollywood or j:poke::rofl::realcrazy::wtf::BangHead:ust California!!!???????????????????

Should be plenty of magnum 318s and 360s in the Kalifornia boneyards in pickups and vans, since they declared war on gas burners there, and people dont want to feed em anymore out there. Heck you could probably pick a whole vehicle up first cheap, pull what you need, and scrap the rest and get some of your money back, along with ditching the slant sux. That hole of a state wants to go all electric cars, and have even worse rolling blackouts than is already there now, besides emptying Lake Mead like a cheap soft drink. You should be able to find one pretty complete and cheap. Then some of us old knuckle draggers will quit riding your *** and try to help you.
Your welcome

Probably the worst thing you could have done was complain about your responses. Ask me how I know! You will just create a feeding frenzy. Look up LS twin turbo swap. He did an amazing job on that car in a storage unit. Red Headed Stepchild-75 Swinger LSX Swap
He got a bunch of crap too but brushed it off. His build speaks for itself. It can be done very well and this guy did it. Nobody is talking **** about it now. While your at it throw in an Ford 8.8 save you a lot of cash on the rear end. Seriously, A lot of us have.
