Nasty drone slant 6 Pypes Street Pro

I had a local muffler shop weld on a Pypes Street Pro Muffler and dump at the rear axle. I don’t even know if you would call it drone, it’s a loud bassy/subwoofer sound from takeoff to 2500ish.

I e had a magnaflow on an older truck that sounded great and a flowmaster 40 on a different truck also sounded great, but of drone on the 40. But this sounds like garbage! I didn’t even know TTI had a full 2.5” system until tonight. I am strongly considering going that rout and can swap mufflers easy to find one I like.

do you think it’s the tailpipe dumping at the rear causing this noise or just the muffler design itself?

Are you positive that you have a good seal in the exhaust front to back? I've heard drones from both cheap exhaust systems... and from high quality exhaust systems but that have warped flanges where 2 pipes connect and cause the undesired noise

I cruised over it and it looks tight.

I couldn't be happier with mine. Installing the Pypes Street Pros in my 340 Dart eliminated the drone I previously had with the FM40's that were on it before.

I'd give them a call to see what they think. Better yet, shoot a message over to @Ccas . I'm sure he'll help you out.

Could be. I just added tail pipes to my 318 car making a nice tone.I did many slants.
Slants do have a unique sound that you may not be able to get away from.

Can you share a video? I’m split between the Pypes and 40 series flows. I ended up with flows on my 340 but I think I still want the Pypes sound more

Here's the video I posted right after I made the swap. Honestly, the only reason I swapped was one of the Flowmasters developed a couple rust pinholes. The Pypes mufflers are stainless construction and have a lifetime warranty (I believe). Don't quote me on that though.

The biggest difference for me was the ability to now carry on a conversation in the car while cruising because the drone is completely gone. It still sounds great at idle and WOT in my humble opinion.

probably both or a bit of both.

120 degrees apart.

Born to drone.

Getting rid of it can be a challenge. I recommend a single exhaust all the way past the body-line, a long 3-pass muffler, and a turn-down under the rear bumper, but soften the slash so you don't cut yourself as you walk by.
But since you already have 90% of a system, just install a tailpipe out to the bumper.
I heard this slanty dual exhaust system once, like a T/A with side exits, in the which, 3 cylinders fired out each side; whacky! I sorta liked it.
