Any 10 second "All Throttle" 318's in door cars ?

I know you have a recipe to make a measly 450hp 318. Let's hear some ideas.
Let's just say if that is the only block you had to work with.
I bet he could put the cam, heads, intake, and carb from the 360 on a .030 318 and poof !!

I don’t really have a recipe as I only ever had one 318 and I pulled it, gave it away, and put a 360 in its place. But it doesn’t know it’s only a 318 so I wouldn’t treat it like one. Heck I would go as far as releaving the top of the bores like I used to do back in the 1970’s and early 1980’s to give some more valve to wall clearance. You would be surprised to see what we used to do to the top of a block.

Did you notch valve relief yourself with a dremel-like tool ?
 
Carbide burr and an old Craftsman electric grinder. Same way we deburred stock rod beems. Then hit it with a one inch flapper wheel.
I say this with all sincerity. You should video all these "home-brewed" tricks on these small blocks and start a channel. :)

PBR does so much in the way I do things, only at a "more wild" side of it all. I love to look at his work and his thoughts. More than anyone on this site, I can connect with his project methods and way of doing things.

I say that MP Tips section would do it except today I’d replace the W2 with TF head and a ported Victor. That’ll do it.
 
I think 450-475 hp can get an A-body into the tens, depending on car setup and weight at the starting line. There's no reason a stock stroke n/a 318 can't do that, with the right parts.
But, why? I understand the do-it-to -say-i-did-it, but wouldn't it be so much easier and cheaper at 360" or 4"stroke 390" 318?

I put 10's in the title and opening post to see if I couldn't get a few wild N/A 318 builds in here to look at, dissect... and there has been a few good pieces that have showed up here.

No quibble at all, with using what's on hand, what you (the generic "you") can afford or what anyone decides to use
. I was just trying to point out that I don't think it will be done with a warmed over stock short block and ordinary heads..
(In my case, it was easier to make power with a 406 than the 283 and 327 i also had on hand....)

It would be but the discussion is on a 318 CID engine only.
If you want to talk about doing this with a bigger engine, there are a bunch of threads doing so where as this thread is just using a limited displacement.

For some it’s the challenge, others maybe parts availability or pocket book issues. They could be just simply be working with what they got. And that seems to be a big freaking problem and issue with many people here.

For all purposes of the general statement, yes, 360's are very easy to get, cheap, and put a builder ahead of the game.

I completely understand the point of this thread. I just think that if tens are the goal (which 318wr pointed out his is not) common sense says there's better/cheaper/easier ways to do it.
 
'85 roller engine has the 302 heads and the 9.2:1 cr flat top pistons. 040th down in the hole.

That stock roller cam runs out nice with a 4 bbl on it. If you are lucky that early roller will have the long snout cam with the eccentric on it for the mechanical fuel pump.

1985 318 Roller

The 318 LD4B intake manifold will be a good added touch to go with the stock '85 roller cam and the 4 bbl.
