I see your 318 engine call outs in place! I can't tell you how many double takes that mine got at Carlisle, the Mopar Nats and MoparFest over the summer! Thanks again for making that happen!

I went with the ones that didnt have the foot on the “1” but now I’m looking at yours and rethinking. Maybe I should swap them out

Would you be willing to give details on your color sanding/buffing process, brands, materials, etc.?

I just completed my first paint job ever and I have never sanded and buffed paint. I need to buy the equipment and materials.

Thanks & sorry for the hijack on the thread.

Your paint job looks pretty good from here. Great color choice! Do you have much dirt or orange peel? You'll have to sand those areas out with 1500 then step up to 2000 then 3000. It's more expensive but don't cut corners on paper brand. We used 3M 6" discs. Once that's all sorted (or of you don't need to sand) We used 3D car care products for the 3 step cut and polish.

ACA 510 Premium Rubbing Compound - Step 1 (use this to get rid of your sand scratches)

ONE - Step 2 (use this to get rid off any swirls or step 1 scratches)

AAT 505 Correction Glaze - Step 3 (use this one for any haze removal and final polish)

I also bought their microfiber towels and a gallon of their detailer spray to clean the panels before starting and between steps. I used a mixture of a rotary polisher (for the big, flat areas) and a DA and hand pads (on the more sensitive areas like edges and body lines) and Hex Logic line of foam pads for the different steps. Lots of good info we got from this YT video

I have two small runs in the clear, there is a little dust specks here and there, and very light orange peel. Overall I am really happy with the results considering I have never painted a car before.

The sand paper really adds up quickly $$.

I was looking at the 3D products already, and I will need to buy a polisher too, rotary or orbital, not sure yet.

Thanks for the info.

If you are happy with the amount of orange peel you have and only want to focus on the dirt specs and runs, You might be able to use a carbide tool to cut the runs and dirt out. Then use the 3 step polish to remove the haziness left behind from cutting the blemishes out. You would want to take care not to scratch or gouge with the tool. Just shave off flat with the surface on either side.

Use a razor blade to remove the runs. Keep 90 degrees from the panel then slowly shave them down. Don't be alarmed when the razor blade screams when you drag it across the run...lol.

back in the day we used to hand sand, hand compound and hand polish the ( 1k cellulose or acrylic mostly) paint. we're spoilt these days but also don't have arms like popeye so much either, lol.
neil.

What headlights are those that you installed? I managed to break one of mine when removing recently, so need to come up with something different.

Using this thread posted by @toolmanmike as a reference, I got the e-trunk latch installed and wired up last weekend! I've also installed a slim sub that will be hidden under the rear seat. The controller for the sub and the trunk button will be installed on a custom made bracket that I'll attach to the underside of the front seat frame. Easy enough to use but not plainly visible to the casual onlooker.

Nicely done. You will love it at car shows and such.

sorry but, what is a slim sub???
One of these. They are low profile so they can more easily be mounted out of sight. I didnt want a huge power hungry amp and box but I wanted the low end to sound nicely rounded out. This thing adds the right amount of bass and is lower power draw.

My factory radio has been retrofitted with new guts from Aurora Design. Included in the retrofit are sub pre-amp outputs.

Drove the old girl out to catch some sunshine for a bit today. No brakes yet but I do have the emergency brake hooked up…and now tested

I put the back seat in to take a look and I’m pretty happy with it

Here is how I mounted the slim sub under the rear seat bottom

If someone sits in the seat will it compress enough to touch the speaker, or is there enough clearance?

Sorted out a weird issue with the blower motor. I had all 3 fan speeds with the air conditioning on but with the heat on, I only had low fan speed. I took the glove box out to diagnose, and this is what I found.

I really like the simple fixes! I must’ve bumped it when I was installing the dash and knocked the connector off.

I got the drivers door glass put in, but I’m struggling with the adjustment to get a good seal. Took a pause from that for my sanity decided to apply my stripe.
