Finally the body is ready or by today standard BIW. Body In White. All steel body.

The GT emblem on the front part of the quarter panel on a 64 Dart GT. What color should the recessed area have?

Continued with the engine today added the can gear + bolts. The old cover had water holes which were almost out of the block. Luckily I had a month coded correct one that I can use. (Oct 64.) Block casted in early Nov and machined in the end of the month.

Next step for the car is the clips holding the stainless steel mouldings on the roof.
There are two different mouldings. One for cars with vinyl top and one for cars with painted roof.

This car was equipped with a black vinyl top that is going back with NOS material. All around the vinyl top there are mouldings holding it tight to the roof. The roof moulding for the vinyl top is made out of stainless steel with pre-drilled holes. On top of this thin moulding the clips were attached.
A friend of mine was able to had them 3D printed with one of the few factory remaining clips.

First picture shows just the clips with the screw attached to the roof.

Second picture shows the clips on top of the stainless steel moulding. The clips have a recessed area under to fit on top the moulding.

Third picture shows the moulding attached to the clips. You can see the moulding leaning to the left.

Fourth picture shows the thin gap between the paint and the moulding. The clips had a thin shoulder on the paint side where the moulding stays This is to prevent the moulding from scratching up the paint.

Fifth picture shows the vinyl top side. The moulding is resting on the roof. But when the vinyl top material is in place it will rest on that material.

Sixth and seventh pictures shows the clips for painted roofs. Mounts perfect and the moulding attach the roof in a correct way resting on the little shoulders.

I had two extra sets made if someone is in need of the clips.

Sad that they haven't change the story about these cars as I told them.
Hey 65' is that a patch I see welded into the floor on the passenger side above the torsion bar?

2:30 in the video.

With your expertise in these cars , you would know for sure!

Cheers!

Ulf, are you the keeper of the registry? The list shown in the video was dated 2014. How many are in there now?

Finally the last pieces showed up the other day. Now everything is glass beaded.
Next step will be to fix the 5/15' hole in the side of the cowl.
I also need to make a new roller cart for the body. That will make it easier yo assemble everythimg back in factory position. I located some seam sealer between the fender and inner fender which is correct. But I have never seen seam sealer between the fenders and the front valence panel.
Anyone out the seen it before?

The trunk if rustfree which I appriciate. Looking forward to continue with the body.

They said they made 480 cars. No they did 180 cars but they did a "kit" for 300 cars.

Hey 65dartcharger,

Great info!

Was the Kit a "dealer installed" option or was it an "over the counter deal" for the other 300 cars?

Hey 65dartcharger,

Chrysler made 300 kit consisting of one emblem for the instrument panel, two emblems + two medallions for the fenders + four Cragar s/s 13' wheels w/center cap w/ Dart Charger emblems. These kits were made to be put on a Dart GT the dealership had on the sales floor with the 273 hp engine.. The dealer wanted to move these kits asap. That's why there are two known Dart 270 2 dr hardtops w/273 hp with the Dart Charger kit known. Since these kits should be put on any Dart GT from November 1964 all "kit cars" were all colors except yellow since it wasn't an offical color until late March. Yellow could just be had on a factory Dart Charger.
This car at Volo it a "kit car".......... and it could not be yellow!
