But aren't 318s supposed to be cheap...?

For a basic 318 that should be a good one. Thanks for posting. Did you notice an increase in performance? How does it idle? Videos? Did you add anything to the combo? What is your combo? Sorry, a lot of questions but they will be asked I'm sure.I used the smallest Summit flat tappet cam and am very happy with it
idles like stock with just a hint of lope, awesome vacuum, lots more midrange. It is just a stock 318 with an old holley street dominator intake and an Eddy 600 carb, but runs very strongFor a basic 318 that should be a good one. Thanks for posting. These are Ultradyne lobes. High lift for such a short duration.Anyone familiar with the hydraulic roller CTA (C=conventional shaped nose, T=Torque and A=asymmetrical) lobes that Bullet offers?

It's a little big, but yes.Can a 340 Cam and lifters be used in a 318? I've got an intermittent tick on the top end and think I have a lifter going bad and thought about putting the higher lift 340 cam setup in instead of the stock replacement. Specs are .429 lift on the 340 and .372 lift on the 318

If you're talking about Summit K6900, my results are the same as yours. Stock bottom end and heads 74 318 with duals off manifolds. Performer intake with 600 Eddy. Pulls 2.76 gears fine although I'm stepping up to 3.55 in the near future.idles like stock with just a hint of lope, awesome vacuum, lots more midrange. I'd change your valve springs also, while you are at it, to get the full benefit of that cam. Also a double roller timing set.Can a 340 Cam and lifters be used in a 318? i've done it and loved it. I assume you have at least a 4bbl of some sort on top and dual exhaust? it will run ok without them but they really make the combo niceCan a 340 Cam and lifters be used in a 318? I do have a 4bbl.and dual exhaust. Toying with the idea of putting headers I bought a few years ago on as well. What criteria would need to be met if I was to transplant a used Cam and lifters from my spare 318 with unknown history to save a little cash? Previous owner said he pulled it due to low compression on a cylinder or two.i've done it and loved it. well, was the lifters kept per lobe? If not, I'd use new lifters with it and do the cam break in. I might do the cam break in procedures anyways even if the lifters are supposed to be in order.I do have a 4bbl.and dual exhaust. Cam and lifters are still in the spare engine. I would be putting in a new timing set while I'm in there. Just wasn't sure if my spare parts would be a viable optionwell, was the lifters kept per lobe? If not, I'd use new lifters with it and do the cam break in. sure, they are viable if they are good condition. Keep those lifters on the exact same lobes they are on now.Cam and lifters are still in the spare engine. I would be putting in a new timing set while I'm in there. Just wasn't sure if my spare parts would be a viable option
