The car in question is a 64 Dart /6 3 on the tree survivor with around 55k miles showing.....and it looks like the miles is true.

I guess it depends. I bought Vixen from the brother of her deceased owner with a good title. Since I had a title, I was able to get one in my name so I did. I would have bought the car anyway, so no, I guess it doesn't matter much, but since I was able to get one, it was nice.

my 57 jeep fc have the orginal title 13 k on it
nj won't take it ...cause no year of truck on it ...wtf it was issued in 57 as new
my porcshe 924 had org title ,had to turn it in to title it in my name got a photo copy

Its nice to have some documents
My pos Porsche the guy saved everything
Have a note from the sales guy saying the car is on the boat been shipped

Yes, it shows ownership and history on a vehicle. I would say it add's value because some people are turned off when they see no title.

Depends on the value of the car in my opinion. On a 64 dart /6, 3 speed it probably doesn’t add much value. On a 64 Shelby 260 cobra originally owned by Herbie Hancock and still owned by him, I’d say it adds almost as much value as the car itself.

I think not having a title is a big issue. All vehicles should have a title or correct paperwork to get one issued to the new owner. Now the original title may bring a little extra value to a 69 Hemi Charger with 600 miles on it but a regular car, let alone a /6 anything does not bring anything to the table. Even if it's a 1 of 1 with a green vinal top.

Here we don't have 'titles' as such, I don't think an original would bring much value, other than if the vehicle was originally owned by a "celebrity" (I hate that term), as mentioned earlier. An original invoice might add a little bit, but more so for the history of the car IMHO.
I do have the original invoice for my 76 Ventura, again nice from the historic point of view, however I don't think it adds to the $ value.

I left the dealer tag on my old Dodge just for the historic identity, even with a missing letter that disappeared during the build. That P is somewhere in the abyss of stuff that surrounds the walls of my shop.:(

Its funny cause the only value my porsche has is its documents........
77 924 ...but cool to me cause it's one owner with documents
Think the same with my dart one owner
Add value to me

I know it adds no value to my car, but I have the original title for my 1973 Swinger. I bought it from the original owner and the DMV voided the back of the original when I applied for the new one. Doesn’t help the value one little bit, but cool piece to have the original title from June 1973.

Keep in mind that there are people that are turned off when you don't have a Title. Some will just walk away from a purchase for that reason. If you have a rare car the paper trail add's value in terms of it's history. Even on a less valuable car the paperwork shows real ownership and can help a sale.

It adds value....
How much ?
If 2 guys where selling hemi cudas
The one with the original title might not sell for more ...but might sell quicker

1) Does it MEAN a hill of beans, not is it worth a hill of beans.
2) The OP did not ask " does it matter if I have a title, original or not to anybody, vs no title?".
3) It means something to somebody who cares, & not to somebody who DGAF, value follows suit.
4) It should matter having the original transfer document from dealer to 1st owner, especially if they still own it.

Maybe this helps. To a Collector, "It's a hill of beans." There are plenty of guys that don't care either way, but there are plenty that do care. Aside from that, have you ever seen this, " Clean and clear title "

My state doesn't require a title for registering older vehicles. My car (in avatar) did come with a title. I was able to keep it for the next owner. If this car did not come with a title, it wouldn't have swayed me away from buying the car. It's just nice to have but not necessary.
