Where would be the best place to plug an aftermarket tach light connection into a 1966 Barracuda? To light up the tach dial when the lights are turned on.

You want switched power from the light switch or ignition (on when you start the car or on only when you turn the lights on?)

This is not the same year, so consult your wiring schematic

Here I would go to the power for Instruments on the fuse block

When I turn the lights on I was thinking. I’ll look at my fuse block, just might be the place to plug it in. After all I need to plug in the power wire in there.

The radio is a good spot. If you look at the diagram posted, the fuse at the far right is at one end of the fuse box. One end of the fuse, under the box, will have a bunch of orange wires. These are the dash dimmer controlled dash lighting, and go everywhere there is one, such as shift quadrant, the instruments, heater, and radio Orange wire

Look at the '66 Barracuda diagram in the FSM. See if there is an option for console, or any other option that would have likely had a light tied into that circuit (the one for dash lighting).
On my '67 there was one for the console, which my car was not optioned with so the connector was available.

A mate for the connector can be made up without much issue.
For 12 V powered tachs, copy the factory. Use the 'optional accessory' fuse slot. If your car already has a fuse there, a piggy back connector will let the fuse be shared.

I'm wrong In '66 it looks like the power was tapped at the wiper switch

Fuse box may be a good spot for the lamp wire based on this one that was for sale.

Many wiper switches had a bare switched 12 volt take off terminal. Handy for cb radios, even record players at a time.

Yes, that connection was taken by the backup light switch on the steering column. Pink/black trace wire. Or maybe more to the purple color than pink.

FSM says B1 was Violet with tracer. You do have an FSM, right? :poke:
B1 was power to back up lights.
For the tach, an optional branch of B1 plugged in. It might have been a terminal with a piggyback. Need to find a console/tach car to see what it really looked like.
