So... If you've been following my story, you know about BJR and my heads.

If you haven't been following, basically Bobby @ BJR did a set of heads for me, shipped them to me and they were damaged in transit. Good thing they were insured, right?

On 8/25, I filed a claim with UPS. I called them, they said they'd be out that afternoon to pick up the package.

Nobody showed up.

On 8/26 I called to find out what was up, they apologized and said somebody would be here the next day. After I hung up with the UPS 800 number, somebody from the local UPS depot called me, apologized profusely and said somebody would be here the next day.

Nobody showed up.

On 8/27 I called again, they told me they had no record of my request for a pickup, my calls to them or that somebody from the local depot had called. They promised me somebody would be here the next day.

What do you think happened? Nobody showed up.

So 8/28 and 8/29 are the same, I call, they promise, nobody shows up. The comes the Labor Day weekend, no calls and nobody shows up. I call them first thing 9/5 and ask what was going on. They tell me that because it was a holiday weekend, my request on 8/28 couldn't possibly have been scheduled for 8/29, but they promise somebody would be here that afternoon. I get to talk to a supervisor, who apologizes over and over, says somebody will be there that afternoon. 30 minutes after I hung up my wife calls and tells me that my usual UPS driver is at my house, said he just got his *** chewed out by his supervisor for not picking up the package (which he had never asked him to do). Anyway, he tells my wife that when he first got the package at the depot it was already damaged, he told his supervisor that he couldn't deliver it in this condition. His supervisor told him to deliver it anyway.

Now that it's in UPS's hands, I assume they would inspect it and determine what to do with the claim. On the following monday (9/8 ) I call to find out what's up with the claim. They tell me that they have to send the package back to the original shipper (BJR) so he can inspect it, determine if it can be repaired and submit the paperwork for the claim. It's supposed to be delviered to him on 9/9.

On 9/9 I check the status online, it says "Out for delivery". I check with Bobby, he says no package. 9/10, same thing. 9/11, same thing. He calls, I call, nobody seems to know where the package is.

Today I call UPS and speak to a CSR, then a supervisor, then a manager. They tell me that the package is out for delivery. I tell them it's been out for delivery for 4 days. She then looks into it and sees that some company that neither Bobby or I have ever heard of (a ticket broker in CA, Bobby is in GA and I am in NY) submitted a dispute for the claim. They won't tell me why this other company is involved, or what they've got to do with it. They also can't seem to tell me where the package is.

So... at this point, the package is missing, the claim was initially denied because of bad packaging, and some company in CA that's got nothing to do with this is involved.

Tonight I spoke to my wife's cousin who works for UPS, he told me that this sort of thing happens all the time. He said that people's tickets (tracking, claims, etc) get mixed up and this other company is probably for somebody else's claim. He thinks the package is sitting in the UPS hub in GA, might have the wrong label on it. But who knows for sure.

Either way, all I know is that UPS had better work on cutting a check for the damaged package that is now lost.

The only reason I used UPS in the first place is that I have an account with them and get a discount from the NHRA. Next time, I'll be using FedEx like Bobby suggested in the first place.

That bites the big potato. Hope it gets resolved soon.

I hate to hear the bad news, I have used UPS for years with no problem. Just lately I have been using Fed-ex ju cause it's closer to the house. I now prefer Fed-ex just because they get my stuff to me early in the morning, unlike UPS.

Give them more time and you should be taken care of Mikel.:read2:
Brother went though this long line of B.S. and he finely got taken care of.

Yep !! I hope for the best for you bud.:clock::cheers:

Yeah, I'm trying to get patient. But right now I've got a set of broken heads on my bench, the replacement set that Bobby did for me are floating somewhere around Atlanta (maybe) and my engine isn't running. So I'm a little annoyed at them for messing up the end of my race season. If I had heads (not damaged) or a check from them I could get my motor back together and get down the track at least ONCE this season without having problems.

I was telling a buddy of mine this story tonight, he thinks these heads are cursed. ;-)

the claim was initially denied because of bad packaging.

Hate to say I told you this would happen in the other thread. Very typical of UPS. This is a problem as they are self insured.

If the driver told you the package was f'd up at the depot and told to deliver it by mgmt., get it in writing from him if possible.

Tell the UPS claims manager that you will be heading to small claims and all the local TV stations/news outlets if this isn't handled in a professional manner.

Stay after them. Those F'ing turds make collecting as difficult as possible on claims.

Well I would hope some cash hits you soon or a set of heads.:clock:
A cursed set of heads:read2::walk: I am not going there.:-D

You have got to feel real bad loosing a half season
and setting and watching:disgust::tongue9:
I hope you will have what you need come Tuesday morning.

Come on lucky sevens!!! get this man back on the track!

I wonder if UPS hired a third party to transport some of their packages and the damage occured under their contract?? That sure would complicate things. I had to file a claim once with UPS and it was nearly painless. Sorry you`re having such a hard time with them, but like memike said, hang in there and you`ll get satisfaction, eventually.

Sue them! My buddy had a two stroke engine (H2 Kawasaki) destroyed by UPS, Insured...blaaa blaaa. Took over 6 months of BS back and forth...finally got fed up called his lawyer buddy...week later settled for $4.5k..they were telling him 1.5-2k during the whole process.

Don't let them screw with ya...get a lawyer...

Good luck and Aloha!

OMG!!!!!!!!! Twilight Zone stuff!!!!!!!!

I was waiting on a watch from the company I work for ( a gift from them)
I got it a week late but if I go to the ups site it's still sitting in columbus ohio:angry7:

Sorry to hear of the BS that UPS is slingin' your way. I build gamer/multi-task computers for friends for a nominal fee and have had cases arrive looking like they were dropped kicked from Cali.

Luckily my customers are cool and I take pics before and after I open the box. I saw those heads and I can't believe the damage that was done. Luckily my supplier has been good about claims but I've had UPS show 21 days to pick up the damaged parts.

I feel your pain! So far this year I have had 4 out of 5 items destroyed in shipping thru UPS. All claims were denied due to "Insufficient Packaging". Now, They were correct; The shippers DID do a piss poor job on the packeging. 3 of the shipments were packed by UPS stores! So why doesn't UPS deny these packages when you try to ship them? My local UPS will! Oh well, This has cost me $1,000.00 this year. I will never ship or reccomend UPS to anyone again.

My 2 cents worth,
Bruce B.

Naw, not really bad luck. I just do not understand people that wrap a 50 lb item in cardboard with no packing cushion. Common sense is just a wisp in the air these days it seems. UPS also said they were gonna pick the damaged items up and never did. How they decided it was the packaging I do not know. I asked my UPS driver and he said he never received any info on any of the claims. Again; Oh well.

Later,
Bruce B.

Bruce, Do a search about Mikels Motor, Trust me its bad luck, LOL I agree though, a set of iron heads should have been crated.

I just got some Vinyl roof trim. Well the delivery driver waved at me going up my sidewalk. The he decided so "shot put" my delivery package from the bottom of the sidewalk to my porch. WTF.

Believe me I ship many heads through Fed Ex and never have this kind of problem, or damages. And they get them there faster on ground than UPS does 2nd day air. I just sent a carb to Houston,Tx on wednesday and it was there friday morning on FedEx ground, but because of the weather they couldn't deliver it but at least it was there, and this was ground.

Mikel,
I'll see if I have another set of matching #'s heads that I can do for you and get them out to you as soon as I can. And you can bet they will go FED EX.

Word of caution.Winter is aproaching and Fed X ground drivers can't drive or speak english very well. They crash all the time.UPS has lost my stuff all the time and the paper work you have to fill out sucks. They have lost letters going to the IRS and costs me pentaly and intrest

All my stuff goes Fed-x. All Mac Tools shipments to me are Fed-x except for toolboxes and large items that come truck freight. Absolutely no problems with Fed-x. Ups has been going down hill since they went on strike in 1997.
Mac switched to Fed-x then and it saved them millions. toolmanmike

I guess the thing that makes me so PO'd is this was a set of heads (915 J)that I had on a engine of my own and took them off so mikel could go racing.

Considering how smooth everything has been going for me lately it sounds like the F-up Faries hopped in my trunk and traveled out to Mikels on my last visit.

Sorry dude.... Hope everything works out. In all the years I've been screwing together this crate of mine I never had a single issue with UPS.

When I come out this week we'll try & trap the little bastrds and drop `em in a lake.

I hae had so many people say good things about UPS, but those are the few and those that deal very little with them.

Long story short I lost $3500 in just shipping charges last year. :thebirdm: And then there are lost packages and claims etc. I have a computer IT company and some shippers only use UPS.

I even had them last year loose a posi 3.91 489 center section! How the hell can you miss something that big? :bootysha:

Man stay on ther *** and get your money back, have a new set of heads and use Fedex ground.

Man that sucks past the words I can post.. I am sorry for ya..

Good luck bud!8)

Bobby -

You have no idea how bad I feel about that... I know that you went way above and beyond on this whole deal, and I truly appreciate it.

We'll get this sorted out, sooner or later. I'm gonna call them again Monday morning and speak to as many supervisors and managers as I can to find out what they're gonna do. I suggest you do the same, as they won't give me much information because I'm not the shipper. But I can give them a load of crap about how pissed off we all are.
