jeesh! you guys act like we live in a swamp and the parts are rusting away! it rains here like less than 2" per year, nothing rusts.
my Dad knows exactly what he has and what it's worth. he's been gathering this stuff since the '70's. from the time I was small there were cars around. a lot of the stuff there now is different stuff from when I was little. people come around all the time looking for stuff and usually leave with it. a few years ago he sold 2 '70 Challenger convertibles, and 2 '70 Challenger 440 6-pak cars. around that time he sold 2 '67 Cuda 383 cars. when I was young he had 22 Barracudas from 1964 through 1973. he still has 2 '70 Barracudas around. the Max Wedge in the garage is for the '63 in the photo. he's in the process of making a deal for a '63 Dodge High compression Max Wedge Polara 500. there's also a photo or 2 of a set of Max wedge pistons and the standard bore 426 block with the R-2 on it that will go in the Polara if he gets it. there are a couple of Max wedge heads under the bench somewhere for it.
I posted some time ago that a lot of the 383's and 318's etc were going to go and everyone wrote wanting 340's. since then several blocks have indeed gone to the scrap heap. shipping is going to be too hard so someone local might be able to get something he could use. lots of the fenders, hoods and doors are going to go.
I'm surprised no one mentioned the Hemi Cuda hood with scoop. there are a ton of things I didn't get photos of like the pile of 3 sets of long ram intake tubes in the garage.
My Dad does hoard a bit but he will sell or trade. it's not going to waste or rotting away.
a bit on the Polara and Belvedere, My Dad bought the 1958 Belvedere in 1961 from the local Plymouth dealer, and the 1960 Polara from the local Dodge dealer in 1964. the engine has never been out of the 1960, some stuff has been done however, the Belvedere has a 1959 Chrysler 300 413 dual quad engine and the 350 dual quad big block is again in the garage. when he had the Plymouth repainted, he put the 413 in it since it was a running engine and the 350 needed work.
aside from my Dad and Mom, I'm the only person who has driven the 1960 Polara since they bought it in 1964, 2 years before I was born, so you get an idea of his feelings about that car. it's going to be a hard day when my 2 brothers, 2 sisters and I have to come into our inheritance, there are so many memories in both cars from our childhoods. in 1969 the family drove to Dayton Ohio and back to California in the 1960, it was the family car for years, and yes though thin now that is the original paint.
