Winter time model building thread.

Here are the wheels for that Runner. The redlines are grooves, so that made them easy to paint. Here is a tip to get the chrome effect for the armrest bases. Cover the whole thing in foil and use touch up paint to do the arm rest pad. That way the handle and everything gets "chromed" and you don't have to fight with tiny pieces of foil, and let's not kid ourselves, even "chrome" paint just looks like run of the mill silver paint. Plus the foil is thin enough to pick up all the detail. In the photo I have one painted and one not painted.

Great tips!! Some nice work there!

Thanks guys, that foil can be a little hard to work with on small areas. Anyone have photos of a '68 Road Runner interior that is black and silver?

Well, it was only a matter of time till some jerk put one of these up, so I'll be that jerk. I built this for a friend for his birthday. (No, Really) This is his all time favorite car so I built him one. I know what you're thinking, a real friend wouldn't build a Chevy model for a friend. Well, when we were at Cordova Dragway last summer for the Nastalgia Fest, I tried hard to persuade him to the Mopar camp, but he was always sidetracked to the '69 Camaros. Well, if thats what he likes, so be it.

Hey, sometimes it's a cool change to build something different now and then. You should have put a 440 six pak under the hood..:toothy10: The model came out nice anyway!!

I wish I'd thought of that!! Then the Mopar and G.M. guys would both be mad at me!!8)

Anybody know of a good online store to purchase mopar model kits?
I haven't bought kits on line myself, but type "model car kits" on your search engine and go from there. There are a lot out there, including collector stuff.(Read, expensive) Good luck. I get mine from a local mom and pop shop. Large selection and reasonable. In fact, if you are looking for a specific hard to find kit, let me know, this guy has the model car connections. Depending on what it is they can get pricey though. Check out model round up online. Cool site.

Wow DRENO, I built that 1/12 scale Camaro way back in the late eighties, ended up blowing it up with fireworks with my friends. Thanks for the flashback, and nice job on the build!

This might upset the Ford guy's out there but like they say Dodge Different! Here's a different build I did last year 32 Ford with a supercharged slant 6 built it just to be different. The supercharger was scratch built as was the exhaust header. I've built a few of these 32's with 440's & Hemi's thought why not a /6 this time.

Keep buzzin'. Be nice to have a forum to post question in for technique and tech without making this thread a million pages long and having to dig through all those pages.

dge, just saw one of the '75 Road Runners on eBay. At the time it had five bids, had a week to go, and was up past $25.00.

I built the '69 Camaro Z/28 kit for my brother-in-law. He had a '69 as a kid, before he went into the Navy in the mid '70s. It was the first time I'd cut and hinged the trunk. I'd finished the trunk floor, found an old steelie wheel, drilled out the lugs, put it in as a spare. I think I may have detailed under the hood on that one, it's been years since I've seen it.
