How about a Datsun p/u with a blown small block Chevy?? This started out as The Scavenger monster truck a vintage kit from MPC.8)
WOW, I remember building that kit way back in my early days of modeling! The one I built had the gasser look with the straight axle in front. Nice build, looks great!8)

Here's one fresh off the work bench. Not a bad kit but not a great one either. The rear valance and bumper had to be filed down a bit to get the rear bumper to fit correctly. The belt for the supercharger belt attached to the water pump and not the crankshaft, so I used a correct set up from the parts box. The injector scoop can't be glued on the blower because it won't clear the hood when you take the hood on and off.The front bumper/grille assembly doesn't fit correctly unless you file the top of the front valance down a bit. I used a set of mags from the parts box and also added the rear slicks. I also used an exhaust from the parts box. Aside from the few glitches I am happy the way it turned out.

Thanks. I used Testors lacquer paint. It is a two part paint, base and clear coat. I wet sanded the paint starting with 3200 and finishing with 12,000 grit. Then polished it out. It doesn't take long for the dust to cling to the paint as you can see in the last few pictures. Yep that's Bare Metal Foil.

A couple of 67 Chargers. I made the tilt front on the Charger myself, I built it about 20 years ago. The other ones I built a few years ago.The Brown one was redone, it originally had a real thick paint job that had to be stripped off.

I have no problem with that. AND I get to build my models while she's at work supporting me. :-D

Hobby shops are the best place for kits.

home, I didn't look through every page on this thread but I would love to see you work your magic on one of those SC/Ramblers. That's right, out of all the Mopars, my eyes went directly to them for some reason.

I have one started GTX and will update here soon. I got started with the decals the other day.

That sprint car looks like it's got to be a fun build Homecloned
And that American Motor's car the SC/Ramblers GTX mentioned will be a beauty.
This Pup is like raising a new born child some times but it's getting better
I feel like I have neglected my friends here
I have not even got my 66 altered Valiant smoothed out and primed yet.

It's true, believe it or not, you can build models and still get laid.LOL

IMPOSSABLE!!! :-D

as far as hobby shops, the last one around here closed about 6-7 years ago and box stores stopped carrying stuff shortly after. Are there any 'online stores/shops'?

I got my P-47C done last night. Did not get any pics but I will tonight and post them in the morning.

The decals on the sprint car are not cooperating with me Mike.:angry7: That is when stuff gets put back in the box. I will order some from Jimmy Sixx Decals. I need to finish the Rambler, it is pretty close.

All the box store stopped a few years ago. Do you have a Michaels craft store nearby? They are a big chain and carry models and everything else to get you going.

I haven't personally ordered anything on line other then here and ebay.

Hobby Lobby is another one, if you have one near you. Better selection than Michael's near me. Model Master paints, air brushes, foil, knives, brushes.

You can also try Ben Franklin crafts, they have a store near me, pretty good selection. I buy models every year at the mopar nats, from a vendor called "Arts toys and hobbies" He has a TON of old stuff, and promos. Ebay has been good for finding older kits too.
