Any pointers you can share from your experience replacing that seam? Good call on the body saw for cutting panel material, minimizes heat and easier to get into tight spots.
Yeah fitzee is a great resource. I’ve watched that same video about replacing rusty metal in window corners probably 20 times. His process is how I’m planning on tackling the rust. I’ve even started making the patch panels. I’ll include pictures as I go.
Maybe I’m getting too caught on this...
In the joint underneath it has rust with pitting but not rusted through. I think it done carefully some of the holes could be welded. Im planning sandblasting the metal and treating but the only way to make sure it doesn’t come back is remove and replace. Assuming it’s too thin and far gone what...
Hi everyone. I’m digging back into my notchback and after pulling off the vinyl am surprised how well everything looks all in all. As seen in the pictures there is some putting rust. The majority of the rust I’m confident I can repair no problem but the area I’m having a hard time figuring out...
Thanks everyone. What you guys said is what I would have said to someone asking that same question, it’s a decision only you can make. It’s a 6 cylinder with good parts but might be more hassle than it’s worth to part it out. And I wouldn’t have to have parting out a good car on my mind. The...
Hi everyone. I have the opportunity to buy a 68 barracuda notchback that is in need of a good amount of work and repairs to make it run and drivable for 5k. It has some rust but is overall solid because it wasn’t a soft top car. I’m on the fence about getting it for some parts I need for my car...
Hi everyone
I tore the vinyl top of my 67 notchback barracuda and as to be exspected the rust is a little worse than I anticipated around the rear window lower corners. Does anyone know of any good shops or people who do rust repair in northern ca? I’m in the north bay but would be willing to...
Hi all. I’m starting to work on fixing some rust in the back window corners of my 67 notch back barracuda and I have this rust under the rear deck panel where the speakers go. It’s surface rust, not rusted through anywhere but if left untreated I’d imagine it wouldn’t take long it looks like it...
I agree. I have looked int eastwoods to make new panels but have never used a shrinker stretcher before but might have to learn. there is a local junkyard with many a & b body mopars and I was hoping the same window corners were used in other models so I could cut and replace without fabbing up...
thanks for sending the pictures. your rust looks almost as bad as mine, damn vinyl tops. thats a good idea using the rod for the bend. this is such a problematic area Im surprised no aftermarket pieces are available. anyone else have any pictures of their repairs in this area or pro tips? thanks
Im going to send the vinyl top to hell and start fixing the rust very soon (as seen in the first post). I was wondering if anyone knows if the notch back barracuda shares the same rear window lower corner curve dimensions with another mopar car? Id like to source a patch from another car junk...
