So that is the consensus, That the transmission needs to come out? I need to get psyched up for that. I think I'll live with the leak for a while while I research what all is involved with removal and rebuilding.
As a long shot, there is a converter drain plug. Could that be leaking? To...
Hello, 1973 Dart with 904 transmission is leaking ATF from the bellhousing inspection plate. There will be a few drops on the ground after it sits for a few days. Where is it coming from and how do I fix it? Thanks
I started this thread to see how many and what kind of unmodified A body cars are on this forum. It is a big success. In 24 hours the thread grew to 2 pages and 25 plus unmodified Mopars came out of the shadows. The cars fell into 2 categories. First, the cars that came from the factory with a...
How many forum participants out there have cars with the original drivetrain? (or an identical replacement). It is my observation most people on this forum have modified cars. This is my unmodified 1973 Swinger with 318 V8. I took it out of mothballs these past two years with a lot of help from...
Zanefox, your car must have spent some time in St.Louis. It has an old style KSHE-95 bumper sticker. That was a popular hard rock radio station when I was in high school c. 1980. They are still on the air. I like the red and black interior on your car.
I know, I read a few places to tighten a few degrees more. I just could not get it to move anymore with the tools I had. The only way I can see to make it tighter is to use a more powerful impact wrench. I was using jack stands. I had the tires about 8 inches off the ground. There was too much...
I used a dremel tool to make a notch on the pinion shaft, the nut and the yoke. I used the impact wrench just to loosen the nut. I carefully counted the number of turns to remove the nut. Upon reassembly, I put the nut back on with the same number of turns until the notches lined up again like...
I just replaced the leaking differential pinion seal in my Dart. I got to thinking, I have fixed 10 leaks in this car in the last two years:
radiator
water pump
2 core plugs in the engine
power steering gear box rebuild. This had been leaking for over 30 years.
3 leaks in the automatic...
Success! I replaced the seal and after a test drive the leak is gone. That is the 10th leak I fixed on this car since getting it back on the road about a year ago. Hopefully this will be the last for a while. I could not have done it without help from this forum. Thanks to all who responded.
