    318 Build? Help!

Last I knew, valves should not clatter within the guides. Literally, they wobble when the springs are removed.

    318 Build? Help!

It's has the aero of a brick wall. Mileage is not a consideration.

    318 Build? Help!

Yeah, the valves actually rattle with the springs off, lol. No delusions there. The Army dash tag says "Do not exceed 60 mph" LOL. It'll be turning 2800 @ 65 on the highway. Can't say I'd want to drive it any faster.

    318 Build? Help!

This entire discussion is for a 318 that is in my '77 M880 Power Wagon. I'll skip the details of how we got where we are now...but it's original and losing core plugs, 3 in the block so far. The latest is under the starter. Not hard to replace....but only a matter of time before I blow one out...

What's the deal with the Poly 318

My friend uses Poly 318s to repower old Power Wagons and M37s. A friend repowered his old Dodge and was going to scrap his running poly 318, but I saved it and donated to my other buddy to put in a PW project.

360 LA OR 360 MAGNUM WHICH IS THE BETTER BUILD

A magnum build would be interesting....but I have two vehicles with LAs, and parts interchangeability is handy. At least for what I'm doing. Magnums may be "better" than LAs as far as design, but there are plenty of high mileage LAs out there, so the design must be pretty good.

    Since Strokers are the topic......

That's good to know. A bodies I'm pretty good with.....all this 4wd interchangability is new territory for me.

    Since Strokers are the topic......

I've read mixed reviews on the Mile Marker. I wish they still made the shaft kit. I may go with a 518 OD if building the stroker, and that it may require a 241 xfer case.... still reading up on that one. That's what I'm hoping to find. Just haven't stumbled on one yet. Everything seems to be...

    Since Strokers are the topic......

I'm killing some time at work (slow holidays) continuing to look at future engine stuff for the M880. My buddy has been running numbers with his dyno software. I assume the numbers are a bit optimistic, although he knows what he's doing. My current 318 (stock engine, with 4 bbl, intake and...

    8 1/4 diff

My car was a factory 2.45 gearing. I swapped in a 3.55 set of gears from a 2004 V6 Dakota and a Dana Trac-Loc from a 2001 Durango R/T (29 Splice, so I ordered a set of custom axles from Dr. Diff). Everything was perfect....been running for years.

    318 Torque Build

Yes, I have been eyeing the 4" kits, especially after realizing the PITA it will be to come up with decent pistons for the 3.58 crank (assuming he would even part with it). Right now it's either a budget 318 rebuild with a cam, KB167s 1.81s and cleaned up heads, or go with the 390 and get...

    Blutooth scan tools?

I bought the BlueDriver probably 3-4 years ago and been happy with it. Live data isn't hard, just need to fiddle with it a bit.

    318 Torque Build

Thanks for the info. I'm not swapping the cam just yet as I have more pressing things I need to focus on (getting my shop enclosed). For now it's just fixing some things and making it run decent until I verify everything else is functional condition. Later I plan to pull the engine and do a...

    TTi step vs. 340 manifolds

I would have installed 340 manifolds on the Dart for simplicity and what I do with the car (street rod, absolute numbers/time don't matter to me) but the when I saw the price of the manifolds I went with the TTI Shortys. Very happy with them, although I did cut and re-clock the right side...
