    1960-1962 Valiant/Lancer thread

Good to see a little activity on this thread, with fresh photos of road toads. Work on my '62 Signet has not progressed at all this year. I've been enjoying a '67 Valiant 100 2-door sedan as my daily driver. It's really plain, with standard steering and brakes and three-on-the-tree, although it...

    help removing instr. cluster

I had the same grief, trying to replace the headlight switch in my '67 Valiant. I tried dropping the steering column, to free the instrument cluster. You're right, though - you don't gain much wiggle room with a 3-on-the-tree shifter. I was finally able to get at the switch but it definitely did...

Replacing door hinge pins and bushings

RANDY, thanks for the photos, very helpful. I'm sure it'll become even clearer when I get a hinge on the bench. You're from Edmonton, too, I see. Cold enough for ya?

Replacing door hinge pins and bushings

I got them from Layson's. Thanks guys for all the quick replies. Sounds like I'm in for a bit of work.

Replacing door hinge pins and bushings

It's a '67 Valiant 2-door sedan. The driver's door lower hinge is saggy, which makes the door hard to close. I've bought replacement hinge pins and bushings but I can't figure out how to install them. Must the hinges be unbolted?

    225 starts but won't run

With a used ballast resistor, my Valiant started and ran like it was a summer day. Thanks for your quick answers.

    225 starts but won't run

Thanks guys. Your answers are so consistent, you've got to be right. Will go hunting for a new ballast resistor and, meanwhile, will try to use the one out of my '62.

    225 starts but won't run

'67 Valiant with 225 and 3 on-the-tree: engine starts with the key in start position but, when you let go of the key, the engine quits. I pulled the ignition switch out of my '62 Valiant and tried it in the '67 but the same problem persists. What's up?

    Windshield Mylar install Question

You're a brave team. Thanks for the inspiration for us owners to tackle this straightforward job ourselves. The only rubber supplier with whom I've dealt is Steele Reproductions. They're really a GM specialist and don't have any glass gaskets for A-body cars (they do offer a trunk lid seal)...

    Windshield Mylar install Question

Thanks everybody. So I'm hearing: - Is the rubber weatherstrip all one moulding or is it in two parts? SINGLE RUBBER MOULDING. - Does the mylar strip lock the rubber weatherstrip and glass in place? YES. - Can the mylar lock strip be replaced without pulling out the rubber and glass? YES. A...

    show me your early A!

Oops, quite right, mine is a second-generation A-body (actually third generation, now that I think about it). It parks next to a '62 Signet, if that counts for anything.

    show me your early A!

Just a solid, honest old lady car that I picked up in Seattle last week. This was basic motoring the year I turned 13. 225 slant six, three-on-the-tree, manual everything, and zero rust. I guess I felt compelled to buy something, after a deal on a cream puff '62 Signet, also in Seattle, couldn't...

    Radiator interchange - '62 to '67 valiant

BILL, thanks for that part number. Having any extra fittings in the cooling system is never a good idea. Now that I've got the car pretty well cleaned up, I'll start another thread for it. It's nothing exciting, just a good, solid LOL car, from back when LOL meant Little Old Lady.

    Windshield Mylar install Question

VALKMAN, I'm listening in here. My '67 Valiant's windshield and back window are in good shape. The rubber seals look okay but the mylar strips are falling apart. Also, I'm missing most of the stainless steel corners and joiner pieces. The shop manual is not real clear about the following: -...
