I am wondering what kind of battery you guys are running in your cars?

I currently have a old 8 year old battery in my car that I badly need to replace.

I've always bought mine from Sears. Also been using a Battery Tender for the last 2 years. Helps when you only drive it occasionally.

I have the optoma yellow from advance auto 2 years now and no issues or problems.

I think I am leaning toward buying a Diehard battery

Thanks for the ideas guys!

Let me know if you guys have any other opinions! ;)

I buy mine from whatever is on sale, advanced/autozone/sears. I usually buy the 5 or 6 year battery since that seems to be the time frame for all of them regardless of the marketing used.

I talked to some workers years ago from an Exide plant up the road-- he said they were pretty much all the same -- the line would just switch the labels.

If you get a regular electrolyte wet cell battery, make sure you do NOT get a maintainance free. You want to be able to add water to it. They last much longer than the maintainance free type. That is, as long as you keep them topped off.

I have a mopar battery of course

have had the same optima red top in my dart since 2004. have grinded that baby down to nothing numerous times, it sits all winter with no tender or anything on it and it just keeps kicking.. can't say anything bad about it.,

i have read bad things about them since JCI took them over. not sure when they did or how legit the complaints are.

I bought a Optima Yellow Top (Deep Cycle) for my Dart about 9 years ago. Still going strong.

My son has a Red Top in his Mustang that is 8 years old. Same thing.

Just swapped out my Optima red after a record breaking 11 YEARS!. I've heard bad things about Optima since like many others. I bought a Carquest gell cell. Nicest battery out there is the Turbo Start gell cell restoration battery. Looks OE, but has the good stuff inside for $250.

I won't buy another lead/acid battery if I can help it.

I've used Optima with good results. But lately I've bought Odyssey and Sears Die-Hard Platinum batteries. Got them in my race car and Dodge dually. They are suppose to be the same with Odyssey making them for Sears, and the Sears version is cheaper.

Myron, thanks for the heads up on Sears.....didn't know they carried the drycells, always nice to save some coin :glasses7:
