Chrysler brings back the Dodge Dart

-
Why should I support a company that builds nothing I like. Except maybe the jeep... Not like they are laying.g my bills. The. Charger numbers are artifical high because if fleet sales. You can't even use the buy American arguement with that joke of a car company. I used to have that moose or nocar attitude when I was a kid. Then I grew up. Far first hand that Chrysler doesn't give a **** about me or any other enthusiast.

Alfa chassis reingineered by Chrylser US for our roads and tastes. Engines available looks like current Chrysler designed motors that are built in michigan at what used to be the GEMA plant that supplied Hyundai and Mitsubishi with their engines from 2005 to 2010 until FIAT took over. They make the FIAT 500 motor there too, which is supposed to be based off the chrysler engineered GEMA motor. FIAT was bringing some of their current technology like multi air with them to add to the motors. These are the types of technology Daimler and Cerebrus cut out of their budgets when they owned Chrysler. I would rather have a hard working italian running the show again. Glad the germans are gone.
I like the look of the car, but we need to have stripped performance models like the old Neon ACR that you could add options you wanted. Not just stripped econoboxes or fully loaded R/T versions.

I for one am excited. I'll start saving my pennies so I can get a 2014 model.

Looks like a cross between a Neon and a Focus, with charger tail lights.

Re: the negative comments on the new Dart, am I confused?...because I don't think anyone has driven the car yet or seen more than the partial front and rear photos, so how do they already know it's junk? Where's the can-do attitude Americans displayed in the past? At least SEE the car first before hatin' it.

To bad the teachers and police retirement funds won't see any of the money the way Chrysler screwd them and other people in when they filed bankruptsy.. Thats why I refuse to buy a new chrysler product. I'll stck to Pre screwing cars.

Exactly how did Chrysler screw teachers and cops?

I don't understand why people are bashing Chrysler using old names. It's done on purpose so other manufacturer's don't use them. after so many years if a name of a vehicle isn't used it becomes free game.

Would you guys like to see Yugo Darts, etc etc.

This is a good thing. I'd rather the Dart name stay with Dodge.

Riddler

I think it a good think they use the old name's we all love, But hey try to use just a little retro styling like they did on the Challenger. That's the reason why we love these cars isn't it? They use that "cross hair" grill on every thing they build except the Challenger!

If it sells cars, then, good for them. They aren't targeting us anyway. We are too stuck in the past. My kids love the new stylings, even if I don't, and I ain't in the market for a new car. I will say this, my wife bought a six banger Chally in 2009, and we love it. Never had a lick of problems, and nice to drive.

For speed, I'll stick to my old lumberwagon Dart, but they may have hit a homerun with the young families. And Joe, if I were Chrysler, I wouldn't give a damn about crusty old farts like you or I either. :D

Love the name and Hate the idea that in the future the name Dodge Dart will be for ever coupled to the thought of 4 cylinders, FWD, and not much else.

Sorry guys, I can't get psyched over this. Personally, I'd rather see them leave the name alone than produce a Euro/ricer and defile the name.

I do hope it sells well, but it's not a MoPar, it's a Fiat, and even with the R/T badge it's not a muscle car, it's just another run of the mill turbo-4 banger. Personally, I would have preferred they called it a Neon.

Not trying to bum anyone here, just stating my opinion of the use of the name, on something that clearly isn't a Dart. After doing such a fine job with the 300 and the Challenger, having to settle for this little thing as a "Dart" is rather disappointing to me.

Sorry if you guys disagree.

can't live in the past forever. look where that has taken us. i don't think we need cell phones and i don't approve of texting. but if i don't accept it, and and adapt to change i am as obsolete as many other things. i hope this turns out to be a worthy advirsary. bring on the dart

Good news for us. If a nice car, it will get younger kids asking about the earlier Dart(s) - 63 Lancer, 64-66 round, 67-72 recurve, 73+ beak. The photos I saw look too "lemon drop" (Neon) to channel the original. The current style seems to be back to sharp angles, as in the current Cruze, Camaro, etc, so seems Chysler would make it look more like a 67-72 body. I am fine with a 4 cyl if 6+ gears and 40 mpg hwy.

I do think it has some promise, especially with the turbo. Hopefully it will have the same appeal the neons had with the SCAA crowd.

gonna ruin yet another name.

ROFL Joe. I can't resist.

I know as a two "Dart" owner, your interpretation of the name is one of speed, handling, power, cruising.

To the rest of the world not on this forum, Dart is synonymous with inexpensive, dependable, no frills, run-of-the mill basic transportation devices.

Say Dart to a non-car guy, and their eyes mist over with riding in the back of grandpa's ol green 4-door dart. :)

The front end on that thing is HIDEOUS:( Fix It Again Tony!!

Be great if it does. It would give the Focus a run for the money.

Its a dart right? So wasn't the dart the POS of dodge back then? Wasn't its a car that they just put a strip on the back and a bigger motor under the hood and said come get me now.

Lol the majority of the world out side of fabo thinks that a nice looking Nova ;b

the charger is a clusterfuck. a 4 door? get real. the chally is an overweight pig. and the dart is a joke. all three are abortions in my opinion. if you want to be a chrysler apologist go for it. back in the swing of things?? lol get rear. they are in last place as usual and will stay there with this junk.

:sad2:
