Load up 5 gallons of E85 in tank of 71 Dart this afternoon...fired right up...did a little adjusting on the QFT 950- E85 carb...beautiful carb....all aluminum, got some jets in that sucker....

88 in primary with PV and 96 in rear with no PV...front and back got 50 cc pumps...

Actually sounds no different then on gas...but intake manifold stays COOL...with water temp at 180....put hand on intake...cool...

shut engine off...wait 10 minutes and that suck is hot as the rest of the engine...

So if test n tune goes good for E85 powered Dart....Demon with be on E85 Saturday night too... 105 octane for 3.499 a gallon...right next to the 6.999 a gallon 100 unleaded racing gas.

Tested the E85 with the QFT tester...dead on 85% ethanol

That is encouraging.
I built for E-85 and will be bragging or complaining about it very soon. :D
Looking forward to reading your on track impressions.

If it's cold, you're gonna (roughly) get about 70% ethanol instead of 85%. That is, unless you blend it yourself. I'm too am curious about the results. Plenty of E85 around here and plan on switching over.

well...only one car will run on e85 this weekend......tnt saturday

Best of luck,Tony. The only local E85 pump here,Vandenburg A.F.B. The officers, swear by it.

daughter fired up the car and drove it around the pits...notice it took longer to warm up...and it smelled different and thats it..

well...as said...things did not work out well..

1st pass the Dart had it best ever 60 ft time, 1.442...but with cross wind..daughter let got out of the gas after just getting into 3 rd gear...

next pass ..she launched the drive shaft...so to be continued..,,,

picked up another 5 gallons Saturday morning on way to track...price dropped to 3.479 a gallon..

while letting it warm up...just idling ...you could cool your beer on the intake manifold...pretty dam cool..

The green machine...smells sweet all the time now....

got everything unhooked and unbolted ....could pull the engine tomorrow to get trans torn apart and sprag replaced....

Did you buy an E85 carb, or did you convert your carb to E85? Just curious, because I'm thinking about getting an E85 conversion kit for my carb.
What did the car 60' before your new best of 1.44?

I thought of going E85 but after doing the math I would have to do allot of racing "years" to offset the price of the carb and the additional time to get it worked out. I am glad you are liking it. I run E85 in my new GMC sometimes and it stinks to no end...

We used to use gasolin to warm it up, then switch to methanol to run it... The car would not warm up with just methanol and on the dyno under power it would get frost on the intake runners - plus the stuff is caustic as hell to the metal parts. I'm sure ehtanol mix is much better that way. Trying to find it E85 in CT is rough. The one station that has it in the ground is 30 minutes away.

Sounds cool! I'm going the other way lol found a gas station local that sells 92 ethanol free for 4.25 a gallon I'll be trying it out today.
