O.K. I need some feedback on this. I ordered a new 69 Dart fender from a place that I've bought other stuff from. Paid in full up front on credit card. I was told it would take a week and 1/2 to get it. Wait two weeks and call them. Not in yet. Tell me to call them next Friday and they should have it. So I call today at 3:00 and no answer. called at 3:15 and 3:30. No answer. So now here's another weekend without the part I need to continue. Would you be pissed? If you tell someone to call you, shouldn't you answer and give them a simple yes or no?

I don't want to say. I just wanted to know if you'd be pissed under those circumstances.

Yes, I would be, considering it sounds they are getting it from another source. 3 weeks is too long for them to not have the part in hand ready to ship.

As long as you're not leavin anything out, yeah I'd be beyond ready for a frikkin fender.

There is actually a federal law which states, " no monies can be removed from credit cards until the product gets shipped "

Seems to me your post is confusing. "Call next week" means nothing to me, as I don't know what "THIS" week was. How long has it been? 3 weeks. That might not be outlandish, depending.

So far as not answering the phone, yesterday was D Day. Maybe "this joint" is owned by a WWII Vet. Maybe he felt like closing the last two days and went fishin.

So, "depending," you may be gettin' pissed for nothing, or you may be more than justified.

For clarification, it's been 3 weeks total so far. They finally called me back with the usual "It's been so busy here" routine and we are still waiting for the part. I do trust these people, it's just that the wait combined with them not calling to update me, and then not answering the phone when this is when they told me to call, just pissed me off, and I was wondering if I was overreacting. Maybe I was..........

Over-reacting?.. Noo! You should be pissed they didn't drop everyting & call you right away about your fender that's coming from another source. Shame on them for getting together the orders they actually have to ship out & handling other customers. Rotten bastards, probably trying to make payroll & pay some bills or something. And to think they made you wait nearly 2 hours to get back to you too!

I was asking for constructive opinions. I guess you don't ever need to question yourself. You probably never make a bad judgment in your perfect life. Very mature of you to pounce with your witless sarcasm instead of just giving the simple yes or no that was asked for. Up yours.

What's the name of the place, maybe lonewolf works there? Hee Hee :D

Good luck with your fender :glasses7:

I never expect my parts on time, If they are on time Bonus ,if not work on something
else. Can be frustrating if you are timing everything.

I love the term " Constructive Criticism " the poster never takes it that way, never...

I think I'd wanna know "where is my fender right NOW at this very moment?" In this day and age, you'd think they could tell you. I get tired of smiley, apologetic cliches myself.

I've heard some horror stories of parts ordered being on infinite backordered hell, and the customer not being able to recoup their money.

I would call the CC company and dispute the charge on grounds of fraud!

Maybe because it wasn't given that way. If I was wrong I wanted to know, not have someone use me for their smarmy remarks test bed.

I've waited two months for quarter skins. The Taiwanese were still stamping them when they were ordered from AMD.

When I got them in, they fit like crap and I had another week in prepping and correcting compound body lines that were about 2" off.

Can you be upset? Yeah. Should you be upset? Perhaps. Will it do anyone any good? No.

I vote let it roll. The only time I persue is if it's gone beyond reason. 3 weeks is pretty standard on oversize freight for something that can't get beat to death by UPS workers. They have to make special arrangements for packages like that, because they can't flat pack them with everything else that moves at lightning speed.

Be glad it shows up straight, instead of quickly, folded in half. I've seen that, too.

I feel your frustration...
Ive gotten to the point where I ask if the part is in stock/actually in their hands.
And if not, what exactly can I expect. If what they say doesnt happen, stop the credit charge.Sounds like you have run into a middle man, without the part. Now they are stalling untill they or you get the part.
The no comunication part is what I dont like.
So yes,I would be upset, and would want some answers.

Yes and Yes,but welcome to the age of" it's someone elses fault" And Dave is correct when you get it don't expect it to fit correct.

To me it sounds like they don't have a line on one, are looking and can't find one without a loss on their end.

I'm an understanding person, original and useable stuff for these cars just doesn't grow on trees anymore, just tell the truth about what is going on, the run around and hiding never works with customer service. If they were upstanding they would give you the option of a refund or wait until they can get one. No business should sell something they don't have on hand or can't readily get (aka in a warehouse).

what you have to do is weigh the difference on the wait for a new fender verses finding a used fender .You know they will both need work to be installed. Sometimes the weight is worth it. Depends on the quality of the part.

Thanks to all the guys who gave intelligent useful replies. I've chilled out some and I think it will get resolved. Patience isn't one of my stronger traits.

a NEW 69 fender from where?????????

I need a 70 Dart fender and I don't know anyone who sells NEW fenders for it AMD makes 73-76 but no 70-72, NOS maybe not new?????

I just checked the AMD website, and they do carry 70-71 Dart fenders for $479 plus shipping.

Exactly the point I was trying to make.
Dude, you called the place 3X in a 1/2hr! Did you stop to think maybe they were actually really busy? Maybe the supplier on their end wasn't giving them answers yet either? It's not some big conspiricy to rob you of your money. Parts procurement for classic & antique cars is almost never as quick as promised. Plan on things taking 2x as long or more than promised or you think it will. Espescially when dealing with 3rd party vendors & drop shipments. As far as I know, AMD is the only ones making replacement steel fenders for Darts. Body parts ship anything but fast. Unfortunately, when you have a market cornered like that everything happens at their schedule. Often times the single orders get placed & then they aren't shipped until there are more orders to go with it so they can save on shipping costs. It sucks, but again it saves costs.
