73 Duster Restoration

The wire is actually missing from the cable. If it worked when he picked it up, It wont anymore, LOL

I actually had some spare time today so I pushed Dusty out of the garage and got it cleaned up. I was going to pull the motor but rain killed that idea

Just scored a load of free small block stuff. Big thanks to Fernand

One complete 86 360 short block
a 72 360 bare block
a set of complete 587 J heads
a cast spreadbore intake with a q-jet
an old edelbrock streetmaster 318 intake
and a bunch of little stuff.

That was last month. I'll be done again sometime next month, LOL At this rate I will finish a car sometime in the 10 years

At least you know what you are up against! LOL I havent read all the thread but will it be a driver?

motor is out. Now to do some cleaning and sanding.

I found this picture which make me want to change my entire plan for the Duster. Instead of a stock looking cruiser Im thinking of a nice modified street car. Nothing flashy, Just a clean street toy. I like the red with the black steels.

Ha, you know I'm just messin' with ya. I am truly glad to see that you are back into it.

At least for the month.

Hey, if you ever need a hand with anything or just need some immoral support, lemme know - I'm willing to take a ride up there if I can swing it.

Not sure how able I am, but definitely willing.

LOL, Yeah Im into this month. Trying to get it to the shop and painted fast before I change my mind. Pretty much what happens is after awhile I feel guilty for spending the money on it.

back in the garage tonight. Got the engine compartment pressure washed and wiped down with prep solvent. I also started re-wet sanding. Either my eyes were tired of seeing the car when I stopped last year or the primer shrunk a bunch. Lots of spots to touch up.

Still need to pull the exhaust manifolds so I can prep the engine compartment. Should be going for paint next week.

Hey Adam the car looks great! I wish I had your skills for body work though I've never tried yet. I understand the wanting to sell feeling hahaha, I went through that recently with my dart but for some reason I keep going at it and hopefully one day it will look good!

I'll keep watching this thread, I want to see it all finished up!

Adam's emailed me a few times in the last week, but I hadn't thought to check the thread. Awesome seeing this underway again. Better him than me. I go through the same ups and downs. Difference is that I get a LOT less accomplished between swings. Yes, I miss the car (especially since I was driving it). But I don't miss having that scope of project hanging over my head. And I also don't miss having a second car to worry about. When I lived 6 miles from work, I rolled a '67 Dart as my 4 season daily. Can't really imagine doing that now, and I have no desire for a weekend car. Someday I'll get my life in order, and have a cool car again. Until then, I'll live vicariously through the likes of Adam.

Off to the body shop Monday night.

I am glad you are sticking with green...your car will look awesome when you finish the paint..

Fresh paint was always a big motivation to get moving for me.
