73 Duster Restoration

Its a 40 y/o car, what can you do. At least it doesnt have the rust issue my Hang 10 had.

If I have to dig into the motor and transmission I doubt it will see the road next year either.

Finally bought some more 80 grit so I can finish striping it back down. Now I just need to get the desire to work on it.

Its starting to get cold around here. Not sure if I will have the time to finish wet sanding the car out. I've got half of it wetsanded with 400 but I found a few spots I need to fix again. Still debating what color Im going to do it. The original F8 or something a bit less olive.

Adam, the humidity is extremely low here this time of year and it's a great time to spray. Keep plugging along, bud!!!

Is Sycamore still running the Sat night cruise? I'm going to ask my kid if he wants to go there Sat night instead of our local show. Maybe you can meet us there, and I'll show you my convert.

George

Paint it the F8.
It would look awesome in that color again.
You know you wannna.........

Geoge Sycamore was on last weekend. Not sure when they are done. I will find out. My band is playing a show Saturday so I wont be around.

That's the same color as my '74 Dart Sport, KG8 Deep Sherwood Metallic.
I love the dark green colors.

Nice color.PHR and M.A.,both ran an article on a 73 or 74 Dart Sport a few years back,in that color.Beautiful car.

I got out to the garage for a bit today. The first time in a month. I have the back have of the car wet sanded with 400. The hood and fender are done with 220 right now. I did find a few spots I needed to fix with some metal glaze. Im hoping I can get them fixed and reprimed tomorrow. Its real close to being ready for paint.

Damn, thats lookin slick, Adam!
I like the dark greens.
Please check out 69 Corvette Fathom Green. I think you'll like it a lot.

George

That looks pretty close to the original F8. Heres a few, First 2 are F8 and the last is G8. Not sure what this 4th is but its not bad either.

I take that back, I dont think the first is F8. It looks lighter

The bodywork looks great..if it were up to me F8 with white stripes all the way, not only does it look cool it's not common and will set your Duster apart from the rest. :thumblef:

slowly collecting parts. I ordered a new set of marker lights, Grill hardware, A paint gasket kit and wiper seals.

Items I still need for the exterior
Body bumpers
Weather stripping
stripe kit

Just a cool detail I found while cleaning up the front bumper.
