73 Duster Restoration

-
When I left work yesterday my car was in the booth at the shop, Steering box and column pulled. He said Monday the he's gonna prime the car once last time ( I had to fix a few small spots) and possibly paint the jams.

I absolutely love F8 with a white stripe... I can't wait to see it in paint. My high school car was that combo with green interior, so every time I see one it takes me back 30 years.

Today I may venture out to the garage and get the old 318 on the stand. It very well may end up back in the car for a little bit seeing it runs.

Tomorrow the hood, trunk lid and doors come off, The jams get sealed and color !

I also started pulling the 318 apart. I figure it runs, May as well clean it up and reuse it for now. All the gaskets are dried out, Valve stems seals floating around the heads and a tone of silicone around the front of the pan. Looks like they did a timing chain on it at one point and couldnt get it to not leak. I noticed the vin on the block doesnt match the car and I see no casting date on the block. Guess I could figure it out from the vin # if I cared to.

The motor will get gaskets, headers and possibly an intake swap. It currently has a iron 340 intake on it.

We've got color !

Looks GREAT! I'm so glad you picked that green instead of the other one.
Keep up the good work.
76 or 77 Vette??? :D

George

Im glad I went green too. I figure 3 of my previous cars were green and the color was changed. I would keep at least 1 green. It looks amazing in the sun and the white stripes will set it off nicely.

The Vette is actually a 73 with the wrong rear bumper. Its a big block 4 speed car and its for sale too.

More color. Now back to sanding.
