Very long story; I'll be messed up for a while, but lucky to be alive

Hope you heal fast. I also hope you can save the bike. I broke my pelvis in an accident years ago and can feel your pain. Glad you made it through the accident.

Damn....this is my biggest fear of riding a bike. An one of the reasons I am getting rid of my evil handling chopper....attitude goes along ways towards a speedy recovery. Do as the therapists suggest..Get well....

Wow crazy accident, I always hate how you know you should not have done something after the fact. Glad that you're still with us and able to tell the story. Hope you have a speedy recovery. Need some pictures of the motorcycle too before the accident.

Wow sorry to here this. I will keep you in my prayers for full recovery. I don't know what you do for a living and hope your jobs not on the line and you can return to it. I sure the bike is a total loss and you may want to rethink if you ride a bike any more. I have a full dress 1981 gs1100e Suzuki in the shop that I have not rode in 18 years. Every time I say its time to get it running my wife gives me that look and says no way. I have a lot of life insurance but she says she wants me around so I guess it will stay in the shop. Get well soon!

I'm sending prayers, but it sounds like a force a hell of a lot greater than us had something much better waiting for the right moment to give Ya...

Glad you were so lucky! Prayers on the way for your continued recovery.
That's the thing so many riders don't realize when they first throw a leg over their bike - it's not a matter of if you'll go down, but when.
I've been extremely fortunate in being down 3 times here in SoCal in 30+ years of riding, twice on the freeways due to other people on four wheels stupidity, and never been injured.
Hang in there, follow the doctors and rehab instructions to the letter and heal up.
Sounds like the scars are going to be great conversation starters!

Wow.... That is an incredible story! I'm very glad that you survived to tell us about it. I hope you enjoy a full and relatively quick recovery. As much fun as riding motorcycles may be, I'll stick to something with 4 wheels instead of 2!

Take care, and keep us up to date on your recovery.

Definitly a bad day. They told me I would never walk again after my accident, that was in '92. Still pushing the bike and the big truck down the road. Get well, put her back together, you will both be fine.:coffee2:

I read this story to my wife, we both wish you a quick recovery, glad you are around to tell the story!!!

Hope you heal up well. I said a prayer for you last night when I read about your horrific accident. Definitely the Man upstairs wants you to stay around a while longer!

prayers send i know about bad wrecks dont rush things

As was said, "do as the doctor says". Be careful. Work hard on your therapy when it starts. Said a prayer for you, just remember that He must have something for you to do. Best wishes on your recovery.

Thank you all for the replies and prayers.

Yesterday all 50 staples and 30 sutures were removed. Last night and this morning I worked on improving range of motion on my left arm and shoulder. In PT this afternoon they had me work on range of motion on my right knee. We were able to get it bent to 60 degrees. Tomorrow's goal will be to get it bent to 90 degrees and put weight on that leg.

Once again, thank you for the well wishes and prayers.

Yesterday I was able to bend the knee at 70 degrees.

Today I was able to move myself into my wheelchair with very little assistance, other than placement of a board to slide on under my bottom. I was also able bend the knee at 80 degrees. With their assistance on getting me up out of the chair, I was able to stand on my right leg for a little over four minutes. I was also able move myself out of the chair and back to my bed with very little assistance. It was a good day.

Prayers for a speedy recovery Brad. your Angel was ridin' with you that day..

Don't have much to say that has not been said, other than listen to your therapist they do know their stuff. Good luck with your healing.

Heck of a way to get a ride on Air Care, but unfortunately it's the only way.
You can't make me say anything bad about U.C.'s trauma teams. They fixed my hand after it was blown up several years ago. Can't even tell it was burned so bad now.
Just do what they say and keep the spirits high. It sucks being hurt, but it sucks more being dead.
BTW where did you have your accident? I had heard something about a charity ride where someone got hurt up near Harrison, was that you?

Well how did your scooter turn out? You never mentioned.. Take your time and recover to do it all over again. Be nice to your wife she may just pick your next nursing home.
