I am seeing a lot of posts about which EFI systems to convert to and after a lot of research and help from 5.7 Hemi I have decided to convert from my Holley 770 carb setup to the Holley Terminator EFI system. For those of you who know me, you know that I love taking pics and plan to document this entire conversion from start to finish and hope to answer any questions or concerns that anyone has with this particular system. I figured this would be a good opportunity to start a thread for others who plan to do the same thing. Enjoy the ride and I look forward to the comments and help. Here are some before pics of the current setup.

Don't worry about it, we have a video:

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7xcH_FVXto"]Terminator EFI Install and Overview - Chuck's Garage - YouTube[/ame]

Thanks for the video and I just learned a few tips from it. Not sure if you are being an *** or not. Hard to tell tone with writing, but if you are then please don't read and bash this post anymore. I was just trying to write a thread based on MY installation experience of the system, mounting ideas, etc and help others who want to do it on theirs and possibly give them some ideas. Not trying to stir a pot or anything, just maybe read into your post and took it negatively. If not, please disregard. Once again, hard to tell the tone set from your post.

No negativity, just wanted to spare you hardship, for the sake of hardship if you felt you needed it.

Yeah, it didn't take much "arm twisting" to get him to switch over. I'm doing the same set up, so we bounce idea's off one another......plus ALOT of trash talk, lol!

Well here is what I have accomplished so far. Got the new 2" Aluminum open spacer and throttle body installed. I removed the -6an o-ring fitting off the throttle body and installed -8an o-ring fittings instead since the fuel system is already plumbed from the fuel cell with -8 fuel lines. I also got the Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator installed (P/N: AE1-13101). One modification that I had to do was grind the throttle bracket so the slider would go towards the firewall a little farther as it was hitting the air cleaner base. It did not take much and everything fits good now and the throttle cable works smooth. If you have the original throttle bracket that comes with the kit you will more than likely not have that clearance issue. I wanted to reuse my custom one. I removed my old fuel filter setup and installed a Holley 10 micron fuel filter (P/N: 510-162-550). Last I removed the old water jacket plug from the manifold and installed the coolant temp switch for the electric fans. I additionally started working the new EFI fuel pump and Holley filter back where the fuel cell is. I will post pics of that progress tomorrow.

How sweet it is! That engine bay is CLEAN!

i like the idea.

just checked the price on that setup and my jaw hit the floor, but at the same time it is filed in the "someday file" with an overdrive tranny

Also in the process of switching to efi. I however did the more hands and brains on approach with Megasquirt (no offense intended). With a second hand fast efi throttle body I picked up for $400. Which came with 4x 85lb injectors, map, iat, iac, and tps.

Clean build keep the posts coming! All Mopars should have efi nowadays

I ordered everything through Jegs because they offer a military discount. The EFI system normally runs $2060 and with the discount it came out to $1887. I used the money I saved towards the fuel system and fittings and everything came to $2500 out the door shipped. I did some research on the mega squirt system and wanted to go with something that was a little more ready to go out of the box. The system so far has pretty much been plug-and-play from what I can see. I'll post pictures from my fuel system progress here shortly. After that there will be picture silence for about a month since I am going back to the ship for work-ups in preparation for our deployment. I will get back to it hard and heavy when I return next month. I will still be on here posting here and there though while we are out. Thanks for the comments and 5.7 Hemi you better get hot and heavy on your build! I want to see results when I return!

Here are some progress pics of the fuel system. Had to ditch the old electric pump and bought the Aeromotive EFI pump (P/N: AE1-11106). I already had the Holley 100 micron fuel filter (P/N: 162-553) on the old setup so I am reusing it for this setup. I installed a -8an o-ring fitting on the inlet side and a -6an o-ring to -8an fitting on the outlet side of the fuel pump. I went to the local Lowes and bought some angle and flat steel stock to make the new brackets. I cut the old brackets off the fuel cell frame and welded in the new stuff. For the mounts I am going to weld studs to the new mounting plates as the pump setup will sit under the fuel cell. The fuel filter sits a little higher then the pump mounts so I am welding threaded couplers to the mount plates to compensate. I am still playing around with this so its not permanent yet. Just ran out of time as I wanted to spend time with the kiddos before I left.

Didn't know about the Jegs discount!

One thing guys forget about Megasquirt (I've thought about playing with it) is that there are a lot of pieces not included in the price, and one "biggee" is a wideband O2 which adds about 2 bills right off the bat

What do you do in the Navy? I'm an old bastard. In the 70s I was a GCA RADAR tech at Miramar

Here are the final pics for now. I got the ECU mounted up inside the car. It is located on the passenger side kick panel. I mounted it so that the kick panel will still be able to go on. It fits perfectly where the notch in the back of the kick panel is. I used 10-32 threaded inserts for easy installation with standard machine screws. I also pulled the exhaust out and drilled the hole for the O2 sensor bung with a step drill. I wanted to get that welded in while I had the welder out. The O2 sensor you see on the passenger side is for my Auto Meter Wideband gauge which I will keep installed.

Yes, all you have to do is contact their customer service and they will take care of you. They asked me to fax a photocopy of my ID to them, but we are not allowed to do that so I just sent them a secured E-mail from my Navy account and it worked that way.

I am an F/A-18 Airframer (Aircraft metalwork, hydraulic systems, paint and final finish). The Navy pretty much payed for me to learn everything I know now. They sent me to paint and final finish school, welding school and all sorts of composite and metal working schools. Right up my alley and it also sets me up for when I decide to retire. Right now I am the flight deck coordinator (Also known as Dog) for the entire Airwing on the Aircraft Carrier. I am responsible for telling everyone on the flight deck what they can and can not do. Its a stressful but FUN job! Here are some pics!
