we just finished dealing with a few issues in a new build we did for my sons 1970 Duster. It’s a .030 over stock crank 360 with. 600 lift roller cam and a set of open chamber 340 Edelbrock heads I had laying around that I ported and a 340 Victor intake I ported. The engine also has a set of JE flat top pistons. It’s has a 727 transmission and caltracks wilth 4.10 gears. Yesterday it ran a 6.58 and a 6.56 and today ran a 6.54. Pretty satisfied so far and I hope he can go a few rounds in tomorrow’s race

you've got to be kidding ,damn I hope my 408 runs a 70
you got you stuff together for sure

Thanks guys. We had a higher lift cam in it and degreed in but had to switch to this smaller one because we didn’t have enough valve to piston clearance. I was real glad I picked this used one up for 120.00 years ago and threw it on a shelf. Lol

What the hell ran a 4.21 in the other lane? I'm not too familiar with 1/8mi, but isn't that promod territory?

You sure are a wizard with cyl heads...thats around 10.40@129 in the 1/4....jeeze we got guys here who are only running a bit quicker than that with 493/500 BB motors:(

Thanks but I’m just a guy who loves porting and doing flow tests playing with new ideas. I used to do some work for friends over and the Winter months to supliment my retirement and would tell them to start dropping their heads off in October but they would hold off till March so I quit taking in work

Nobody does anything while the big orange ball is behind the clouds. Then when th big orange ball comes out, everyone wants their **** yesterday.

I have zero sympathy for slackers.

Folks are paying a lot of money for heads that Are capable of making that kinda power Most 408's aren't making that with a factory port design at least
I seen a lot of dyno numbers that say they do but not very many time-slips
To back it up

Those dog gone stock stroke 360’s run pretty good when set up right. He had my old 408 in his Duster last year for a few races with the same set of Edelbrock heads he is using now and ran a 10.08 in some bad air. We are going to build one with some more compression to see how much that helps

What does your bench say they flow ??

I check calibration evertime I start a different head and a stock Edelbrock head on my bench maxes out at 243 cfm. This set of heads flows a touch over 315 cfm with a 2.08 valve. I ordered 8 (.350) offset intake rockers for the set I am doing next so I can push the pushrod over

That thing is a beast!! Great job, and I'm sure your son is as proud of it as you!!!

Thanks. He’s 28 now and helps build the engines. He never really got into head porting but I hope sooner or later he takes an interest. Ill be 62 in March and won’t be around forever.

my 18 year old and myself will be running his first 7.0 index race this Saturday
He will have the driving duties
I never really thought I could enjoy racing more then I already did till he started showing interest

Good luck today. Have fun and be safe. It’s fun racing with the family. Heck my ex wife used to race the Duster my son is now. She got over me but still has a love of cars.

Great times going on here :) super build sir

Thank you. These are great times to be a mopar lover. Lots of fast Mopars at Norwalk this week. I talked to the guys at Trick Flow and tried my hardest to explain the need for some small block heads. He told me they were surprised how well the mopar market responded to their big block heads and although it was years away don’t be surprised at what they may come out with. They are having a free race today for anyone running Yrick Flow heads or intake manifolds

First of all most 408's don't RPM like a stock stroke will. Second--this car is very well setup and fairly light drag car. J.Rob

Love the stock stroke 360--absolutely kills when executed deftly. J.Rob

Flow won't really pickup but power will. J.Rob
