Looking for a new used truck.

-
Does anyone here have a 2011 with ridiculously high mileage? How has it held up?
I found one with relatively low mileage considering some iv seen for that year. It has 60k .miles and they are asking 17k I think that is a pretty good deal for the miles I'm seeing 2015s with 100k for higher.
And I would rather have an older truck with less mileage and fewer dollars.

From a toolbox point of view, the chevy wins hands down,
I cant say much about yotas, they may in fact be the winner as i have yet to do anything but oil changes and brakes on them.

Ford, chevy and dodge all develop exhaust manifold leaks.
Chevy is easiest to repair.
Same for intake manifold.
Spark plugs? Chevy is easiest, ford plugs are expensive and dodge hemis have 16 plugs.

Oil change? Ford, dodge dump oil all over diff, chevy filter is easiest.
I wish the dodge was the one on top, but the frustration caused by the above mentioned issues if i had a choice it would be a chevy/gmc.

I just bought a new Toyota last week for parts hauling, main reason was fuel mileage.
I looked at a lot of used ones, and they just wanted too much, and the mileage was stupid high.
After it was said and done, I made the decision to buy new.
By buying it straight out, I offered 5k less than the sticker, and they took my offer.

I have a 2014 f150 4x4 lariat. I bought it about year and half ago. Has the v6 turbo. It only had 26k on it. It is an awesome truck. I have no regrets. I wouldn't rule out getting a Ford.

Before you start shopping for a new or used truck, you need to have a fair idea of how much money you will be eligible to borrow.

I have 2 GMC long box, extended cab trucks both with the 5.3, one is 2004 (150k miles now)and one is 2013(45k miles now). Both are 4x4's bought used with low mileage on them. The 5.3 is awesome for pulling my work trailer, decent gas mileage, and no work done on the 2004 5.3 except oil changes(knock on wood.) Regular maintenance on drive train, wheel bearings, shocks. 2013 is good so far as well.

What kind of yota did you get? Tundra or Tacoma?

I have a limit of how much I'm willing to spend. I'm not gonna get over zealous and buy a 30k dollar truck.

It seems like a buy a different Dodge for myself every ten years, of coarse I built them for 35 years. I had a 1997, then a 2007, and now I drive a 2017 Ram 1500 and yea It's Got a Hemi. I love my truck and the eight speed trans is awesome. One of the things that I do when ever I am looking for a newer car or truck for either me or one of my family members is I try to find one that I like that is on a competitors lot, for instance my 2017 had 20 thousand miles on it and it was on a Honda dealerships lot, it seems that they are under pressure to get them off their lot and are always ready to deal to move it. When I bought mine I took it for the test ride and then told the used car sales man what I wanted as far as trade in and price on the 2017. Of coarse they could not match the price I was willing to offer so I walked away and two weeks latter the sales manager called me back and offered it to me for what I wanted to pay. Have some patience, do your research, and stick to your guns there are some great deals out there but you need to look. I paid a price of what 2014 and 2015 Ram's are going for with many more miles on them. In my opinion I will always own a RAM I have never had any problems with them, I now have 38 thousand miles on it and everything is A OK.

I really like rams too I have had two dodge rams my first was a 1985 I bought in 2001 and drive until 2011 and the rust finally got it the leaf spring holder rust in half and the spring went thru the bed lol but mechanically it was still fine fuel mileage was horrible but the old 318 still purred like a kitten. The guy I sold it to fixed it and sold it to another guy who still drives it today. My 2nd is the one I got now I bought it in 2011 with 180k miles and still drive it today with 259k it has been an great truck I have not had any trouble with it until recently. And honestly If the frame and body wasnt so bad off I could fix it and get another 30k out of it. I found a 2011 that I really like. Its a great deal it's in Ohio so I may be going on a road trip soon.

Totally look anything over from OH it is almost guaranteed to have rust.

I looked at a couple of the the extend cab I can't do because the back seat sucks I have three kids that ain't gonna work. I really like the 4 door trx but it's still a mid sized truck the towing and hauling capacity Is half as much for the same price and same fuel mileage. I really like the fact that you can get it in a manual transmission.

X2 on a competitors lot, I bought a new Challenger it had 3k miles on cheap, because it was on an Audi lot, the salesman told me the owner did not want American cars on his lot.

Everything is going to break at some point. I ALWAYS tell people to buy what you want because when you're fixing it or paying for it to be fixed your not spending money on some pos you're not proud of and never really wanted in the first place...

Some things that REALLY turns me off is the overpriced Toyotas. I don't care how good they were new or "for awhile" you get upwards of 150K on a rig, that "better than" is gonna start to wear off

And I REALLY don't like the Dodge/ Dakota/ RAM 3.7/ 4.7 junk. That limits "anything Dakota" for sure

I'm considering a hemi RAM, maybe 15-20K. I was gonna buy a Tacoma/ Frontier/ early low miles Dakota OR ANOTHER RANGER, but GAWD the prices are "up" from couple -three years back

I'm looking at 03-15 hemi rams 1500 I won't buy any 4.7 or 3.6. I would consider a diesel if the price was right. We found a really nice 2017 local in my price range and my wife said buy it I was like NO! She was like why? I Pointed the 3.6 v6. I was like I am not buying a v6 full size truck. She was like omg your so picky Haha. Yea I am if I pay 20k for a truck I'm getting exactly what I want.

I got 2017 Ram crew cab. Dealer demo with a hemi. V6 300hp woulda suited me fine. $31k before taxes and extended warranty.

My truck is identical to this one. I bought it with 65,000 miles for 21k two years ago. I’ve put 40,000 miles on it in two years and never had to do a thing besides change the oil. It’s my 8th ford pick up and I plan on buying a 9th when the time comes.

I have a couple of buddies that got the 3.6 in their full size Ram's and they are not happy with them at all, they both said never again. I know I would never get one, just not enough power for a full size let alone a 4X4 full size.
