Looking for a new used truck.

-
I'm looking at car max now all the vehicles I see have a $199 transfer fee but that's no big deal. Better than me driving 8 hours to see a truck I don't like lol
I just wonder if you have to pay that fee even if you don't buy it?
Also are car max prices negotiable or are they no haggle priced?

No haggle pricing.

When I bought my 300C from CarMax, it came with the balance of the factory warranty. I got all the warranty service done at my local Chrysler dealer (not much, but enough to make it worth having).

Then, when the warranty was about to expire, Chrysler sent me a notice and offered a factory extended warranty if I wanted to purchase it.

I wouldn’t buy a warranty from a used car dealer, but a factory warranty is an entirely different matter.

Seriously look into extending the factory warranty, most new vehicles die from electronic crap going bad.
My co worker is a die hard jeep guy, when he buys a new one, he pays for the highest mileage one the company offers. He has had his new Cherokee in 9 times for transmission sensors. A different one each time.
He says he does not care, when it gets within 100 miles of going out of warranty, it goes down the road for a new on.

Also my ex-wifes uncle used to buy a new caddilac, top of the line every two years, never changed the oil, nothing to them, when the tires were getting thin, he would trade them in on a new one.
I asked him one time why, he knew better, he said yes, but why should he spend money to give the next guy a good car.

Beware in buying any used vehicle, it is normally traded in for a reason, it gave somebody crap, or they did not care.

search Enterprise certified truck sales. You will be surprised what you can get and they are well maintained. Some are 2018 with less than 20,000 miles for less than $25,000. Most have been leased for 6 months and all highway miles. I bought my 2014 Ram with 19,000 miles and it was built 7 months before I bought it and was still like brand new. I have 77,000 on it now with no problems. I will never by another new one.

My wife suggested this to me as well. At first I was like no I don't want to buy a rental they have been ragged and abused. Then I started looking at them
They have some great deals. I found a 2018 Hemi 1500 loaded with 26k miles for 24k. That's the same price as 2011s with 3times the mileage.

My neighbors are waiting on them to get one in the color and options they want. I will go this route again if I ever need another. The 100,000 warranty transferred over. Hard to beat their deals.

With all the car buying options now a days I'm surprised the local dealerships can even stay open. I went to our local dodge dealer yesterday afternoon and they had 3 used rams all of them were high mileage (higher than I'm wanting) and well over 26k Idk how they expect to compete with places selling the same truck with 50k miles less for 5k less
I have found 2009-2013s for 18k they are asking 26k for the same truck. Smh

Wow enterprise has a 2018 with 16k miles for 26k. That's pretty much a new truck for half price. That's is crazy. It is a little above my price range tho. I could save up for a little longer and put more down to keep my payments where I want them.
I have been doing alot of looking and I have seen trucks 10 years older and alot more miles for the same price.

That is a very clean truck. That thing would be rusted in half around here.
I found out how carmax and flow places like that sell cars so cheap. I called and talked about financing with a place called car lotz they are kinda like carmax. They have a 24% interest rate thru their financiers! Holy cow. I wonder how many fall for that crap. The truck I called about was 18k I was gonna put 4k down and finance 14k my payments was still 373 a month. That truck would end up costing almost 27k that's effing stupid. And the fact that in frugal and not in dept over my head hurts me too. I don't have a very high credit score. Its not that I have bad credit I have never defaulted or had anything repossessed I just haven't financed very much. Iv only ever financed one vehicle and that was almost 10 years ago and I paid it off early. I just got a credit card about 2 years ago. I may end up just buying another one in cash if I can't find a better interest rate.

I found a really clean 01 it has 118k miles they are asking $5800 I bet I could take 5k cash maybe less and get it.

Talk to your bank or credit union. You can usually finance through them for a reasonable rate. I never finance through a car dealer.

That's good advice right there. Have all your financing set up before you step foot in the dealership. Credit union is your friend.

Take a refrigerator magnet with you, that black on the bottom scares me, it may be hidden rust.
A refrigerator magnet will not stick to bondo.
That is exactly what I told my wife Haha we think alike!
I told her it looks like the bottom has been painted and could be covering up half *** body work or rust. The good news is its identical to mine so I know where to look lol
