1972 Duster Build with my Daughter

-
Small victories today. Power Steering is functional, helps if you fill the fluid up all the way. Brakes are bled. Remembered I had a big plastic syringe that I filled with brake fluid then back injected it into the disk calipers then back into the master cylinder. That cleared the air. We have brakes. Put in 3 cans of R134a.... Things are not right but my cheap HF gauges are useless. Need to buy some Robinair gauges. Starter squeals as it coasts down after it starts. Need to pull it off and check it out. Windshield is in and the hack to make the '72 grill work with the '73 AC dryer is figured out and the grill is mocked in. Drum sanders to the back of the grill got it 1/2 there then I had to remove the bracket on the dryer and shape the lines to make it set back in as far as it can go. After that it fit. Now just need to restore it and fabricate a hanger for the dryer.

First roll out into the sun with a mostly assembled car! The windshield went in after we pushed it back in the garage..

And the little speed demon is getting a bit heavy footed already...

Poll time: Do you like the tail lights blacked out with the Twister rear strip or should be the the original Argent silver? I have only done the one of the LH side. A new eBay one for the RH is in the garage to be restored.

Outstanding resto. When does it get the Sharktooth?....sum say worth 'bout 15 HP, not to mention the 100 or so styling points.

Likely never :)... I have to grind the back of it to fit the '73 AC dryer in. Would not be able to do that to one of those (not because I like them just because of the value to others). I am clearly still a B-Body guy as I don't see beauty in the Sharktooth or the Rally wheels ;)

Beauty is in the eye of the check holder. :D

I understand, No way would most consider cutting a Sharktooth. .....but an A-body rat like myself would simply relocate the dryer....I go for the extra HP every chance I get.

BTW.....loved Revhendos comment.

Sounds a little restricted to me. Manifolds I assume? What size exhaust did you put on it?

Pinion seal was leaking just sitting for the week. They are hard to find in stock for a 741 case. Seal replace and the driveshaft is installed. Tim at the driveshaft place said it was an exceptional core shaft. Virtually no balance needed and straight as an arrow. Said is would not vibrate at 200MPH.... Kaelyn had better not try to test that......

The first time this car has moved under its own power since.... the late '90s at least!

That's awesome.

Um, has she come back yet?

Very nice, you know she is going to have every boy in school after her for a ride in her car.

Someone is a happy camper.... Can't get it lined up till week from Monday so we can't drive it much, besides you can't keep it on the road since it is so far out...
