Allstar Performance can... *UPDATE*

-
First off you don't even need one unless your going to race your car on a track that performs " TECH " actually so there is that, then if you are going to do some drag racing at tracks and have built a car as such then I hate to burst your cherry BUT most things aftermarket and intended for race cars don't fit just as an OEM part would.......get over it. Also a lot of guys that are buying these locking dipsticks so they can be legal to race at a track don't have a blower motor/heater box in the car anyway, it's usually one of the first things to go if your trying to lose any kind of weight at all. This whole post makes me scratch my head because it is not an issue and it reminds me of the other post of the engine oil dipstick with the POS chrome dipstick tube the whiz bang was struggling to figure out how to get it in with the wrong fuel pump/block off plate bolts anyway and also trying to do it in the wrong order, just boggles my mind as to some of the stupidity.

I respectfully disagree. It is an issue and a big one. All Star states that these tubes are direct bolt in OEM replacements. Thus a buyer would have that expectation. The negative reviews of these tubes are widespread. I see your point re race cars. However, people are looking for OEM replacements and are getting screwed. Too many vendors selling them with absence of necessary product knowledge. They state: Chrysler 904. Zero mention of any usage restrictions or fitment.

Its all good, but from experience I can assure that if its an aftermarket part you may have to and more than a few times have to modify to make fit, like it or not that's the reality of it and your either ok with it or your not. I can assure you though that the few people that can't make it work that complain to whatever vendor will have zero effect moving forward because there's far more customers that did make it work or put that part on the appropriate type car with minimal issues.

There are obviously many different "Chrysler 904" applications. Therein lies the danger of a fits all product. There is no way these things are engineered in any way close to fitting a V8 904 transmission in a stock early A body. Summit Racing knows this and is the ONLY vendor that publishes a disclaimer. Probably due to a history of customer dissatisfaction. Their advice pretty much says modified and racing applications only. When I was shopping, Summit was out of stock. If they had had one available I would have checked out the product information more thoroughly and would have passed. We all have enough challenges building/restoring Mopars without having to f*** around modifying a trans dipstick tube.

I didn't have to modify it at all, i put a better rubber sleeve on the bottom of it and for my own convenience notched the bolt hole opening so i didn't have to take the bolt all the way if i didn't want to. Irreguardless of what anyone wants to believe this dipstick/tube is a race car part and not intended for bone stock platforms.

I agree. But how hard wold it be (and w wood a one change it???) to bend the tube exactly the same as an OE tube. I’ve spent my adult life working an junky assed race cars, and I’ve never seen an altered, roadster or anything else that a stock dipstick tube wouldn’t mount up to.

I say they made that piece of crap fit some GM pile of crap gearbox and are just shoving it up the butt’s of Chrysler guys.

Tomorrow I kick some ear, both at Summit and “Allstar Performance”.

I called the fine gentleman from “Allstar Performance” (Brian BTW...same clown I talked to last week) and explained to him that this thing wouldn’t fit without a total modification. And guess what he said to me??

“WOW”! We’ve been selling those for YEARS and you are the only one who has ever said it won’t just drop in and bolt up” Yep. That’s what my buddy Brian from “Allstar Performance” told me.

I’m not really surprised. I usually don’t call places like this anymore because I’ve heard that bullshit claim so many times I knew it was coming.

Then I said “ya know, the 904 has been around for decades. Even the Comp Eliminator guys were and are using the 904 behind the Chevy’s because they are quicker and faster. They may not be doing it so much now. They may be using some metric GM junker but they were doing it”

And my good buddy Brian from “Allstar Performance” said “yeah, I know. We have a lot of them running in GM Comp Eliminator cars all over the country and not one guy as called and said they don’t fit!

So there you have it boys and girls. Our friends at “Allstar Performance” made a pretty sweet dipstick for the 904, but evidently you have to have a GM chassis so it fits.

So yes, “Allstar Performance” can KISS MY BIG, HAIRY, WHITE ***. NOT ON THE LEFT SIDE. NOT ON THE RIGHT SIDE. BUT RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE.

I’m going to call Summit next and send this stinking POS back.

“Allstar Performance” gets a NEGATIVE 5 stars from me.

I'm not trying to argue but it is like I previously stated, if your running a blower motor then just use a stock tube and almost no race cars are still utilizing a blower motor including my car so it is no problem using it.

It’s so far off it’s nowhere near the blower motor. It’s not even close to a 904 tube. That’s what has me stumped. They could have just copied a 904 tube and been pooping in tall cotton. Which BTW, Brian said they did do...copy a 904 tube. So that’s either a lie or he just doesn’t know.

It is a lie for sure. I posted a picture earlier in this thread showing the comparison with a 904 tube. Surely even China couldn't screw up a 904 "copy" that is as out to lunch as these All Star tubes are.

I think you mentioned early on that was the answer you were expecting.
Sometimes I feel like billing people for the time I wasted ordering and returning crap.
At least you can return it, even though you feel like stomping the heck out of it and hanging on the wall.
OR you could do what I did and post a YouTube video pissing on it. :D

@yellow rose

Wondering how you made out with the stock tube/new O ring?

Also could you give me a price quote to mount my Valiant on a GM chassis?

LOL. I’m not sure if it’s seal yet. I drove the guts out of it yesterday. I haven’t been out yet to see if it’s leaking. I’ll let you know when I get out there.

I finally got a full refund from PayPal and didn't have to return the Tube. Bonus!

Car club guys want to use it to make a trophy. Presented annually to the member with the best "POS Part" story! Priceless!

Interested to know if you resolved your leaking 904 with the new "O" ring?
