Uncle Tony's response to Direct Connection

-
Those are repop plates and about $9.99.. I doubt Tony has any real direct connection parts
I have original direct connection parts direct connection signs direct connections everything you are correct that's a newer sign mine or old originals I'm not going to just cut everything up and throw everything away because foolish Chrysler does what they do I remember direct connection back when it was direct connection and that's all I know direct connection is the hell with the future

Who's Uncle Tony?
Idiot on youtube that will show you how to build a crap engine and then blame the failure on "defective" parts.
Was good when he first started now that he has a big fallowing puts out garbage every day for views and money. Should about sum it up.

he had a recent video where the header flange looked like it was ran over with a bulldozer, that must be a "donated part" anyway last i knew Headman headers and wrap were real cheap so why play around with those scrap metal headders only to have problems later? UTG is hell bent on "on the cheap" and there is no such thing not if you want to be successful. These cars aren't in you pull its any more. they dried up in my area 20 years ago.

just stopped by another one of my honey holes. Dried up 20 years ago? Not around here. And these are just a few of the 1000’s of cars there of all makes, models, and years.

Looks like some might be able to be put on the road again.....

I would say so too. There’s literally hundreds of old cars that could be saved there. It’s pretty far off the beaten path, but everything g is for sale there, parts and cars too.

It sure is ashame that a fellow Mopar brother can't give an opinion without constantly being made fun of.

LOL I do wonder, though, in all seriousness. No sarcasm. Do they watch angrily? Or watch burning inside with Jealousy? Yell at their phone or computer?? I sense no humor when they post on FABO, so they aren't laughing. And what keeps bringing them back to watch the next episode? I wonder, for real. It's a legit question. For me personally, I've watched many, many utube channels and decided it wasn't my cup of tea, and I never returned.

I’m a fan of Uncle Tony. That being said, I’ve definitely noticed a shift in his content as he has gained popularity. To me, it’s a little disappointing that the UTG channel I once knew isn’t the same. But people generally don’t like change, so I guess that’s where I’m at. It’s like when a TV show kills off your favorite character. You still watch because you like the show, but things just don’t feel the same.

I wouldn’t go so far as to call him an idiot - that’s an opinion I don’t agree with. I still watch because he does still put out useful (to me) content. He’s been turning wrenches longer than I’ve been alive, and there’s something to be said for that.

its cool there are some yards with part still around...still arent building a car cheap from it though unless its a piece of junk like Uncle Tony builds. Look at his **** no interior he runs it it breaks etc. who has time to jaggoff like that. life is too short.

Tony did more than most here will ever do and went faster too.
He knows more than he puts on, his videos are just old school techniques with budget in mind.
I won't call him Uncle Tony because he's younger than me and no he's not my hero.
He's old school.

I watched the other day again and was a follow up of the valiant the 3 are building. Surfacing a cylinder head with a 2×4 strapped to a battery was another hack move again..... the one guy did good on the porting for his first job, but that surfacing "technique" was another reminder of what not to do.
So no I did not go into the vid angry. I was just reassured of the hack job skills he shares.

He's still "doing". Who here would put the effort into putting a /6 in a Miata ??? Or putting a 4 door valiant on a pickup frame and then turn it into a 2 door LOL? Knock is methods, knock his techniques, but nobody can knock his "doing". "Doing > Dreaming".

That's what we did back in the day.
I stuffed a 383 and converted to LBP wheels in my 67 Fastback in the late 70's when I was a teen. I loved junkyards. lol
Sharing How To's always gets mixed results.

What exactly did he do that accounts as "more than most here will ever do" And before you answer, answer with something Uncle Tony did, not asking me what I have done . Don't get me wrong I've combed junkyards and u pull its as a young man tryin to keep a car running, but then i grew up. I got a job invested in a career and now I don't have to drive junk, I can buy parts, either new, or from guys who pulled them from a yard and will sell them to me. I guess I'm busy to o busy to be hanging out in junkyards and driving junk cars. I don't have time for it.
Uncle Tony if he isn't 60 he's pushing 60, too old to be driving junk in my eyes he's a failure and I wouldn't want to be him... he should be ashamed of himself.

Wow....tell us how you really feel

i walked away from a 74 Duster in the summer of 19 because it had ratty /no interior and rust issues. it would have been a nice car to UT.

Along the lines of the dead horse, we also used to say "are ya going to let him up for air...?"

So I watched Uncle Tony's response to Dodge bringing back Direct connection, and while I get he is upset with it being misleading, what the hell did you think they were going to do! DC=Electric, I mean come on. And even if it had nothing to do with electric, you still fell for the fact that you though a modern car company (stalantis garbage that is a disgrace to the dodge and Chrysler name) was going to bring back performance tips and parts to heavily emission complied vehicles. Its laughable.
Now what really gets me is the destruction of that perfectly good DC license plate he cut up, and I think that's where the stupidity and immatureness comes in where he said all the stickers and plates and DC stuff is getting junked. He himself should know there is a difference in what was Direct Connection back in the day and not comparing it remotely todays trash. Don't blame the past for todays garbage.
I'm almost 30 and even though DC was before my time I would never think to compare the two. I will rep the past all day long!

IMHO, Chrysler crapped the bed and been sleeping in that mess since. Oh man Fiasco is going to be so good for Chrysler and get us on our feet again. Now there is Stilldickus to save them.
Best bet is fire half to 2/3 of the bean counter weanies and get back to real car guys and gals running the show again.

Fat chance.

They do, it's called ethanol!

Heck you can make it yourself for that matter.
You want to convert food to fuel? Fuel.economy is reduced as stoichiometric AFR requires more alcohol.
A number of years ago Detroit Diesel.had an experimental.engine program to run city bus engines on methanol. Medicine Hat, Alberta had 2 methanol plants shut down. They got involved to test them. Alcohol has such a high latent heat of vapourization that when the about double methanol was injected, the compressed air was cooled so much it would not ignite. The heads were cast differently to retain heat and had provision for the glow plugs from the 5.7L auto diesel. There was a glow plug controller with LEDs that flashed at idle. When fired up it ran like a top fuel engine. When they came back from doing a route they ran good for a couple of minutes until they cooled a bit, then back to dragster idle. These engines on diesel fuel in city buses usually lasted 350,000.to 400,000 miles. At first they only got 50,000 on methanol. The methanol was washing down the cylinder walls. A number of fuel additives were tried and got engine life up to 100,000 miles. When converted back to run on diesel, the fuel systems had to be primed to start. That is when the head design to retain heat was found out. The heat would boil the fuel in the fuel manifold on shutdown. Diesel heads fixed that. Interesting experiment to be part of.
