Been there
DOH!.jpg
I wasn't 5' off the concrete discharge of a drain culvert pipe and where the foreman told me to take the loader to clean the brush outa the way in the creek. I even got off the tractor before I left the slab to check it out, bone dry it looked like. Down the skip loader went as soon as the rear tires left the concrete. Fat Allis had to pull me out  Biggest dozer we had on the project HD 41, bigger than a D9 Cat

Quick trip today back from @Mopar Tim 's neighborhood today, little over 4 hours. I wasn't even hurrying :steering:. 15 miles from home the shoulder of the US 101 is burning and had just started, not a fire truck to be seen yet, got in the fast lane and just putted through the smoke. Saw 1st fire truck just as I cleared the smoke and he was in the wrong place to do any good :BangHead:

My forklift cant leave the concrete. Down it goes.

Last Wednesday my auto shop teacher told me that the shitty alcohol gas I have been buying was going to destroy my fuel pump and all the rubber lines in the car. Thankfully I have a marine carb on it so that won't be affected. SO in an attempt to correct this quickly (the car still has at least 1/2 tank of the crap gas in it) I was going to run half 101LL to clean it out/ dilute it until the next fill up. (at 76 from now on)
Get this- I called the airport a couple days ago asking if I could come fill up a jerry can with 101LL. they said sure; no problem. When I showed up today with a jerry can the lady called up the fuel truck, said the type of fuel, then asked me which plane was mine. [pause] "no plane, this can" SHE said and I QUOTE "sorry; crank call. disregard my call". [hangs up] "we are a county airport sir, we cannot sell you fuel unless it is going in a plane." "maybe another airport will but we are a county airport so we can't sell you any today..." :BangHead:

going to try Hesperia "airport" next. hopefully they are cool about it and won't ask too many questions.

I was poking around on the Adams Architectural website and found a replacement screen/storm door. Our door appears to be original to the house and is not in good shape after 100 years. The previous pets didn't help much. Ours has a pull out storm insert and a screen insert for summer time. I can get it in different sizes (2/3) woods (cedar), different color screen (bronze), different fasteners (cam fasteners), and divided light's for the glass insert. It probably won't be cheap but it will be very close to the original door in looks and function. Simpleswitch Storm/Screen Door - Adams Architectural Millwork - Residential and Commercial

It looks like my son will be out of work for a month. With the heavy rain the road to worksite washed out. Water has to stop flowing before road can be rebuilt.

Today they put our last plantation shutter on. Took a year to order, wait, and install.
We did three bedrooms, two bathrooms, foyer, office, and dinning room.
Pricey but they look great.

So, my gal Chin sells wine and American beef online mostly to friends. She sold 10 cases to a man that we know. Although I didn't know him very well until last year. I always thought this guy was a driver or a cab driver. The guy is very unassuming unlike most people in Vietnam who want to show their wealth. This guy has one of those material hauling ships about 200 ft long. He showed me pictures of it. Anyhow we were invited to his place yesterday with other friends. He has a beautiful three level townhouse near the city center of Vinh Long. These pictures are of his party room all the way up on the third level. Had it all custom built. I also saw several old radios and turntables and reel to reel tape recorders. The guy is into antique electronics . Anyhow I thought this room was very interesting. Apparently the guy has a lot more money than I thought. It's the guy in the blue shirt.

This is not his ship but his is very similar to this. They use them to haul gravel sand and dredge in Vietnam. I see them all over the place here on the big rivers.

Since people go around telling the world about buying avgas and race gas for their street car, nobody wants to risk the high probability of then trying to explain it to the revenuers...

Beside your wasting your money anyway. Fuel has been reformulated several times since the 60s. If/when the rubber parts deteriorate, replace them with new. Sometimes its a pain but its still cheaper and more convenient for a street car to be able to buy at the pump.

It's a tax thing. Av gas doesn't pay road use tax. They could probably get in a jam if they got caught.Like the farmers using Ag diesel in their trucks. Some get caught and fined heavily.

I am going to try Hesperia air port next, Hesperia is just more lax on stuff in general:lol: . if they won't give it to me I'll give up and just run the tank out.
yes, and I will still be buying it at the pump, just not "AV gas mart" anymore. This is a one time thing mostly because i'm curious and partly because I don't want that shitty gas in there. After this tank I will be going to the 76 station.

it also didn't help that the sheriff has their helicopter and airplane terminal/building probably 500 feet from the pump at the airport:eek:

So go round telling the world and soon that will change. Won't even be available for racing. :BangHead:
