I do... AB+

I started when my neighbor died in the line of duty escorting President Bush a few years back. He died of internal injuries from a accident on a motorcycle escort detail. (Fluke accident) There was a huge call out for blood from his family. Unfortunately, he passed while in the hospital. Before I could give blood from then on I promised to give blood whenever I could. How could I not. Our kids play together (still) Least I could do....

But its not about me...it about the lives you can save/help..children that will still have there mommy and daddy to come home to.

Aloha

I give whenever I can. Our local Blood Source brings one of their Blood Mobile buses to my building - parks it right out front on the sidewalk - and my employer doesn't mind us taking the time to visit the bus and donate.

I would but I can't

I thank all of you that have:notworth:, my life was saved more than once by donated blood.

I am an organ donor but I don't donate blood anymore. I am O neg and all but my first time they messed up.
The first time was painless the second hurt and they didn't get enough out so they had to throw it away the third time they kept moving the needle around and that hurt a lot then they didn't get enough out after 45min, the forth time they got enough out and they once again moved the needle around while it was in the vein.

Both Tara and my aunt are nurses and they have both said there should be no problems what so ever getting blood out of my arms. If I could have one of them do I wouldn't mine but I am not going to sit there for 30-45 min in pain to just have them trow it away. I asked to if they could put it back in and they said no.

I do whenever there is a blood drive at our Church. I used to be scared to DEATH of needles. I used donating to get over my fear. Still don't like it, but I feel that since there are enough people that need it adn I am healthy enough to do it, I can "man up" and take a little dracula treatment a couple of times a year. I am O+ and have probably donated at least a dozen times probably close to 20 times since I was a kid.

I used to back when it was easy to do. In school or college I had time to give, now it seems if there is ever a drive it is during working hours. I suppose I could go to the hospital to donate though. O+, so I defiantly should do that.

I kept my card and donated all the time for a straight 15 years or so, But have not in the last couple years, Thank you for the heads up.
Time to give some platelets and blood and watch M_A_S_H as I give and have some good cookies

i would but i am on the list of those who cant as i was in england during the mad beef thing. think they could screen to see if i am actually a carrier or something

I would if I could, but I can't donate. I had a blood disorder of some type when I was 12 years old so mine is no good, which is a shame, because I have one of the rarer types they're always looking for. So in lieu of that, I donate $50.00 per month to the Canadian Blood Services through my company. Eases my conscience a bit. My wife has donated 56 times I believe. We don't get paid for ours here either, it's all volunteer, and thank you's only.

I donate to the MOPAR Gods every time I wrench on my car. :toothy10: Sorry if this is in bad taste. Not ment to offend anyone.
Just curious, doesn't the hospital CHARGE patients for this DONATED blood. :dontknow:
I am all for helping others but why are they making a profit from this.

I did for a lot of years. Over 2 gallons total. Today my hemaglobin (spelt)
is too low so I can't donate.

I tell nurses and paramedics they have one chance, make it count. The first time I said this was on an ambulance ride with a minor stroke. The paramedic asked me if I had a bad experience. The Red Cross dug with a back hoe looking for a vein a blind man could see. His reply was "that's a nurse without a job." Since then I go to the hospital where RN's or professional vampires suction it out.

It's hard to believe they give away anything at hospitals here in the states. That's why an Aspirin cost $50.00. If there is a way to rip off insurance companies they will. I hope you are doing better megajoltman.

WOW!!!! Interesting stories....NO shame if you can't or don't...just curious. They (nurses without jobs) sure ask alot of questions...like most have you mentioned. Live in england? had sex for money? crazy things too, that I didn't even understand what they were asking.

Did you or a dog that you once saw, near a fire hydrant, on a tuesday mid afternoon ever bark at you ...uuuhh No?

give blood while working on the mopar..thats funny! I think we all do that!!!

Tomt966~thats wack! Ditto what homecloned said.

Aloha

Thanks doing much better still on meds but that will have to be taken for the rest of my life a small price to pay to live.I have good days and bad days but slowly my energy is coming back.

I am back to working full time (giving the Govnt all there tax money) and my Doc calls me his miracle patient as 85-90% of people would have never made it out of the hospital.

Anyway I am living proof that the blood you donated does save lives my family thanks you all especially my 3 year old who still has her daddy.

Thats kinda what I was thinking if I do it again. It has left such a bad taste in my mouth that it may take awhile before I am willing to let the vamps try again.

I used to when I was in college.... The nearest place that does it is over an hour away... Once in a while when the Red Cross rolls into town I'll pitch in some plasma

You sound like a very strong willed person. God bless and give that 3 year old girl a big hug.
