    HEI conversion benefits

So, what RPM's could I expect from a GM standard module?

Going back to the basics- here is why:

I have never had an HEI module fail on any of my GM cars. But, the first time I took my 68 Cuda out the chrome box died, switched to MSD 6AL no problems in 14 yrs.

    HEI conversion benefits

A GM module is basically a small MSD without multiple spark. You can mount it on the firewall ,fender ect. Lots of wiring diagrams on the web. It will eliminate the ballast resistor. All you need is a coil, a module and a heat sinc. Less than a $100. Spare module just in case. I doing 2 for my...

Easiest and cheapest is the Ningbo "ready to run" distributor on ebay. I put one on my 1965 Dart 273 ($45) with the e-core coil ($20) (both from seller Steve White Performance). Not avail for slant-six. I also found a spare module ($15 ebay), which I think is used in some Japanese cars...

    Spark plug gaps

Lower compression ratio=hotter plug. Should be 5 heat range in NGKs. I would run 0.060" plug gaps [ yes, 060!!! ] with the RTR dist. The internal module electronics is based on the GM HEI module, which standard used 060 gap [ 080 with some engines! ], & your low CR allows for bigger plug gaps.

    Electronic ignition upgrade.

I think the 4 pin GM HEI module will work with all the stock mopar ignition components, just need to wire up the four connectors and have it mounted to a heatsink with some thermal paste. I thought about doing it, but I bought a made in usa HiRev. So I'll just wait when that fails.

GM Coil and Module Help Required

The Pink wire on the right side lower terminal of the coil goes to Ignition Run terminal on the ignition switch upper terminal . The Blue wire on the Right side upper terminal of the coil goes to the start terminal on the ignition switch. The white and pink are jumpers from the Module to the...

stock hei units in 602 and 604 crate engines see 6200 to 6400 every lap up to 50 laps at a time on dirt cars! turned my limited sportsman 7200 never had a issue, ive seen many others do the same!

I wont deal with msd anything. The plug wires aside, they are decent. Conventional electronic ignition is dependable and easy to diagnose, parts readily available. Thinking i want to try gm module on the 360 in the Fargo.

Great upgrade. Like it better than most out there.

That appears to be a Mopar distributor that some one made an adapter heat sink for a HEI gm ignition module. It may be a professional one that is missing the cover.

    HEI conversion benefits

If picking parts, you also grab the GM coil and the cable which connects the 8-pin module to the coil, so no custom-wiring for that. The coil has a white wire for tach signal. Also clip the pickup wire and cable. The 8-pin module is inside the "small-cap" distributor. The pickup connector is...

Going back to the basics- here is why:

Big difference in failure rate: modular inside distributor vs MoPar mounted outside distributor. 4 years now. I still would be driving so it was not a complete failure.

...and stopped working. WTF right? kind of find it tighten it all up again and nothing. Hell test the module rpm is bad. OK change it new gm module and works fine. So the bottom line is you need to use a metal base gasket and the o ring to ensure it is grounded properly. That sucks was a...

    Info on FBO ecu unit

If an HEI module, you shouldn't need the ballast resistor, and better with an e-core coil. Do they suggest that? If upgrading an earlier engine with points ignition, why would anyone change to the Mopar ECU wiring, unless using the actual Mopar ECU? That would be clumsy wiring to the 5-pin...

Need help understanding Mopar ignition…no spark

...and wires and taped everything up so it still looks stock. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this conversion....even though i now have a GM module and Ford coil on a Mopar....i did it in a way where it's not noticeable and the car runs so much better. Thanks again for all the help you guys...

    distributor cap male terminal

Use a stock Mopar elec dist [ it is shorter ] & use it to trigger a GM HEI 4 pin module. That is what is inside the MSD R to R dist, a GM 4 pin module on a printed cct board. The Mopar reluctor fine tips will also give you more accurate cyl to cyl firing than the thick, large gap, rel junk...

What is a good electronic distributor for an rb/b block?

They used to on the old ones. I believe they've changed it now. Although I'm not 100% sure. I've not seen a new one taken apart yet, but they don't look big enough to house a GM module anymore. I could be wrong, of course.

    GM control module

I know that this has been discussed before, but would somebody post on how to wire a gm control module to a mopar distributor. I looked for it but couldn't find it. Thanks everyone

So the 66’ progressively is getting worse when I step on the gas. Breaking up and hesitating and just running like dog snot. Checked timing, thru in new plugs (old ones looked great.) Ohmed out the wires, checked the cap, and nothing to write home about. Then, at 4am this morning I thought about...

Need help understanding Mopar ignition…no spark

UPDATE: Installed another new GM HEI module....now I have good spark from the coil. I guess the other [NEW] module from Amazon was bad. Car wanted to start but didn't. On to distribution....I'll recheck the plug gaps as I think they were .35 and as suggested should be .40 to .45 and make sure...

    Electronic Ignition Question.

NO, GM HEI, the import "ready to run" distributors, and the Mopar factory and look alike breakerless are all "switched" or Kettering ignition, in other words the module switches the ground side of the coil exactly like breaker points. I THOUGHT there was a page in the Sniper...
