    Normal 318 Engine Temps?

Yeah, it depends on a lot of things like rpms at cruising speed etc.. However, I'm wondering what the normal operating temp is of a 318?

    Normal 318 Engine Temps?

Cruising steadily at 55mpg the engine temp ranged from 190-210F in about 90 degree weather. Also, my belt was probably slipping this whole time as it just blew and I will replace it tomorrow but I was wondering what the base temp is for a 318?? Thanks!

    Fuel Filter Particles AND Stalling

So I replaced the fuel filters, and installed a new fuel pump the other day and it has been running great!!! I just wanted to post so people with similar issues may be able to diagnose their problem off this post. ...I'm sure now that I've said this it won't run great anymore though... Thanks...

    Fuel Filter Particles AND Stalling

....Or maybe the fuel pump is just not pulling fuel. $33 is pretty cheap for the stock replacement http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CRT-M60514/. I wonder if I should try this too. Any recommendations? Where can I find fuel lines?

    Fuel Filter Particles AND Stalling

The particles are before the fuel pump which is why I'm happy there's a filter in place before it. This is also why I suspect that the problem is before the fuel filter/pump like in the gas tank or fuel lines. What's a tank drop entail?

    Fuel Filter Particles AND Stalling

Why's that? Because it's robbing the pump or making it work harder? I definitely may be incorrect but my thinking is wouldn't I want to protect the pump before all the debris got to the pump?

Thanks, I think that is probably my next route

    Fuel Filter Particles AND Stalling

Hey guys, My 318 Duster has been having trouble with stalling while it idles down as I roll to a stop or coast around a curve, it hesitates off idle, and starts hard like it is flooded after it has stalled. I've been running around all over trying to figure it out and am frustrated!!!!!! I...

    Edelbrock Carb Spacer?

You're right, I would think precision and the shape/size of the spacer would affect performance; however I suppose not. Meanwhile, a small tweak in the internals of an engine or other minuscule adjustment elsewhere could prove for disaster.... I admit, the spacer IS weird. Thanks for everyone's...

    Edelbrock Carb Spacer?

Ok, but is the overlapping spacer and gasket restricting the performance?
  16. Z

    Edelbrock Carb Spacer?

Right, it came with square gaskets. However, I don't understand why it has a wood block spacer and gasket that block the intake? Should I trim them to the intake?

    Edelbrock Carb Spacer?

Hey guys, I'm installing a 600cfm edelbrock today but ran into something fishy.... When I removed the old carb, it appeared that the gasket/spacer are blocking the ports to the intake...do I need a different spacer or gasket? What's the deal? Furthermore, is this a legitimate spacer that is...

C130 Chief, I'm unsure of the timing advance/how to even go about checking it! I guess I should do some research

    318 Advice

I took a ride today and it has been stalling at low rpms like when I begin to slow down for a stop sign etc. It hesitates when I step on the gas from a stop. I'm told I need a carb rebuild by my local shop. ....So! I think I'm going to concentrate on the carb right now as my first performance...

    318 Hesitation

As I was enjoying the beautiful weather today in my Duster, I noticed it began to hesitate if I would let off the gas and then step on it again. Then, when coming to a stop, it would stall out and be difficult to start..almost as if flooded. Sometimes it floods when I start it after it's warm...

    Slipping Trans

I have a 904 auto trans that slips when cold. When I put my Duster into reverse, (there's usually a loud clunking) it slips and then the car gently starts reversing as it slips and then eventually finds reverse in about 15 feet or so. This usually happens while cold. None of the other gears...

    318 Advice

Wow! You guys give me great advice!!! It sounds like many people are similar in that they want just enough horsepower to have fun with but mild enough where it's not unreliable and you have to refuel every two miles. There are some great pictures of some prettttttty engines as well :) I have...

Awesome!! Hahah. Thanks again for the great advice! Sweet lookin engine you got there too! That's pretty much the type of build that I'm looking to do and will look into headers and maybe a new carb as well.

    318 Advice

Awesome! Thanks for the valuable advice! The 500 is under carbed in your opinion... I thought you have to be careful with too large a carb? Guess not! I was thinking headers definitely too. Hooker, Hedman, ...., any preferences?
