    Edelbrock Pro Flo 4 EFI

That is probably because no-one has successfully gotten the small block version to run properly. My personal experience with initially purchasing a ProFlo2 system (for $3800 new at the time) and then spending over a year, NOT exaggerating, with their tech services (they literally knew me by...

Early A, 65 Barracuda which Supercharger & EFI kit?

Bump...... Any progress on this car? Considering the Paxton for the top of my stroker 426. Curious how well the EFI handled the boost.

Mopar Alley's 27th annual Car Rally June 11th De Anza College, Cupertino CA

Looks like I'm going to have to add this back in the rotation. I haven't been since Mopar Alley abandoned Ohlone College. Taking pics under solar panels is meh but I like seeing all the Mopes in one location. I'm not seeing many Early A-bodies though. Guess I gotta represent.

Anybody following the Violent Valiant build?

Following this build now. Your car is what I intended my Barracuda build to be...............on steroids! Gorgeous over-the-top work!! :burnout:

Just completed the minitubs and 8-point roll cage. Still need to finish the interior!

Max overbore for LA 340 block? .060" too much??

That W2 motor makes me drool. What headers do you have in the images?? I would like to run large tube headers for my stroker build, but most that I have seen have the drivers' side #1 primary drop straight down, which won't work with the AlterKtion rails. Yours sweep back towards the firewall...

Max overbore for LA 340 block? .060" too much??

............Unfortunately in the end the donor 340 block had cracks in two cylinders so it never made it to the sonic check. :angry7: Looks like I'll be using a 360 block for the stroker project instead, but obviously the same tools/principles apply.:supz: Cheers!

422 stroker, Windage tray or Crank Scraper???

Yeah baby! That's my 65 Barracuda and my friend's 63 Valiant at the bottom of the Mopar page................glad Ishihara/Johnson used the photos (4 years ago)! I'll be looking at another set potentially with my next motor (they show that they do stroker combo's now as well). It will depend on...

Max overbore for LA 340 block? .060" too much??

Its a 72 340 block, and yes a sonic check will be performed before I scuttle the block. I'm just trying to decide if I want to use it for my stroker project or acquire a 360 core from a friend. The 4.10 bore opens up some pretty ridiculous displacement combos, and yes they are tempting. I just...

    Roller Lifters ASAP!

Hughes set is also $350 versus Comps $550 for the set of "retro rollers" for LA motors. I'm running Comps in my 360 currently and had no clearance issues. I will be looking closely at a set of the Hughes rollers for my next build. I'm also watching that Mopar Muscle article on that 427...

Max overbore for LA 340 block? .060" too much??

I've never been a fan of running more than a .030" overbore on anything, anybody else feel nervous about a .060" overbore on a small block Mopar? Especially if it's stroked???

Yeah, I added functional fresh air (cowl sealed to carburetor) and it seems happy. I'm planning on going back to Sears Point (just can't call it Infineon) in late September. Let me know if you're interested in meeting us up there. Kasey's not the traitor: Richard sold out, leaving Penske...

    Engine dyno vs chassis dyno

I voted chassis because I'd rather know what I was putting to the wheels (I can confirm where my chassis deficiencies are from my actual 1/4 mile times). That said, as many others have indicated a dyno is good for evaluating improvements/changes, but not much else.

    '65 Barracuda wheels...

They're not some people's cup of tea, but if 17's are an option for you, here are some pics. This combo allowed me to run 245's up front (room for 255's) and 255's out back (room for 275's) without any fender modifications. Granted I am running the Mopar .875" spring relocation kit in the rear...

    Drove an SRT8 Challenger today

Nice!! Congrats on the PCP SRT-8!!! I like it sans stripes as well (but I'm biased). I have had my Hemi Orange SRT-8 6-speed (I ordered mine stripe delete) for over a year and it still makes me smile. Here's a pic taken immediately after we unloaded it from the enclosed trailer in front of my...

Try this instead.............did this before I converted to AlterKtion (so I no longer need the extra K-member clearance).

Anyone done a 5 speed conversion on an early A?

The Tremec 5-speed install isn't that difficult, but it's more involved than simply cutting a hole in the tunnel and making a new hump. You'll need to completely remove the center of the tunnel and construct a new hoop over the torsion bar crossmember. I took a hybrid approach of severely...

    lightest a-body??

I'd be willing to bet that scale was off by several hundred pounds..........or you own a factory freak. Factory curb weight for the Duster was closer to 3300 before fluids and accessories for V-8 cars. Even the Feather Duster with it's aluminum panels and aluminum S6 block was still...

    Whats everone working on?

I'm waist deep in the AlterKtion installation on my 65. I've got the K-member out, and have removed the bump stops. I also have removed the hood hinges to accommodate the lift off fiberglass hood. The AlterKtion components have been painted, and the steering column is out to remove the...

    Need help with UCA bushings

There was a set of directions in my boxes of K7103's indicating the need to press in the washers. I'm guessing the boxes that mvh received had been "looked in" before and returned with something missing when they went back on the shelf................

Problem Swapping to LBP on A-Body

Sounds to me like they used drum brake spindles for their kit. Drum brake spindles have through holes for a bolt and a nut, which you discovered in your shop manual. Perfectly normal (but annoying).

    small block headers

Agreed, but my point is that all the large tube headers for 67+ units I looked up dump the drivers' side #1 primary out through the k-member in front of the lower control arm or through the fender (Hedman, Hooker). Since the AlterK longtiudinal will occupy the space where the opening in the...

    small block headers

After the AlterKtion project, I will be looking to build a small block stroker (possibly the Hughes 426 kit). At that point, the 1 5/8" primaries on my Doug's (and just about every other available header) aren't going to get it done. I have no brand allegiance, but I do know that the few 1 3/4"...

    small block headers

I had my early A-body Dougs headers (part #D450) years before TTI had their early A-body headers. If Dougs has since revised their D450's (since they were purchased by Pertronix) then I can't speak to any design similarities to the TTI's product, but TTI was NOT the original at least for early...

better motor mounts or torque strap???

I converted to solid mounts on my 65 (modified a set of the 67-72 style solid biscuits to work with my 65 brackets) a while back, but I still have the Schumacher torque strap if you are interested. It worked pretty well, but I wanted to stop movement altogether since I have a set of .990 torsion...

    Best K-Frame for improved handling?

While I would love to see some head-to-head comparisons both on the track and the street, I have to admit I am doing this more for the weight loss, improvement in steering response and the plethora of engine options that open up as a result than I am strictly for the handling improvement. I...

    Engine swap

To drop in a V-8 you will not need a different K-member >> they are the same from 63-66. You will need a V-8 centerlink and motor mount brackets (mounts are available through Schumacher). The most difficult part of your swap will be the firewall modification required for distributor...
