With my 273, you can actually see the fuel bubbling in the filter. Tried insulating the line from the pump to the filter, and from the filter to the carb with no success. I'd try non-alcohol fuel, but it's not available around here. Thinking about the tri-nozzle filter and a return line to the...

273 started using Hydraulic lifters in '68. Think the 273 Commando was discontinued at that time

I should mention that the column shift mechanism is poor. Mine would drag out of 1st and get hung between neutral and 2nd. Ended up putting in a a tunnel kit and a Hurst shifter. Mine originally came with a crappy clutch disc....think it was 9¼"...car magazine said it shouldn't be used in...

Your best bet would be to find a 1964 Valiant service manual online. I have a '66 manual, but apparently '66's only came with the power top, so there is no information in it.

Are you saying the top doesn't seat down on the windshield frame, or that you can't get the latch to lock?

That's not the #...sounds like you got that off the bowl casting. There should be a tag attached to one of the bowl cover screws. If not, it's a Carter BBD 2bbl. Kits are available..they cover multiple years. Try eBay 1960 74 CARB KIT CARTER BBD 2 BARREL MOPAR 213 255 313 318 DODGE ENGINE - NEW!

Could be as simple as a clogged gas tank vent. Happened to me on an old Nissan pickup truck. Actually collapsed the tank trying to suck fuel. Take the gas cap off and see if it runs.
