Craftsman Tools "proudly made in china"

We own China just as much as they own us. Without us buying all their cheap crap they wouldn't have anyone to sell to. North America is their main purchaser. So my advice to everyone is, try as much as possible to boycott buying chinese stuff. If you look around their is a lot of stuff made in...

    Backing off valves

I spray some fog oil in my 440 and let it stall out, then plug the exhaust pipes with tennis balls. Wouldn't hurt to back the rocker arms off though, if you have the time.

Oil pump binds or is it made to be that way

I think a stock replacement oil pump would work fine. What other option is there if his is pooched? Its either replace or don't run an oil pump.

Oil pump binds or is it made to be that way

Get an old shop manual and check all clearances on your oil pump with feeler gauges. Clean it thoroughly, if it is out of spec or not smooth when cleaned and oiled. get a new one

    Barrie auto flee market

Don't bother with barrie. When I first started going 5 years ago it was good. I have been almost every year except this spring. And now that I hear they are gouging people 5 dollars to park I wont go back. Also there is next to nothing there for mopar, like 5 to 10 vendors out of hundreds.

Wow, Off On The Gear Ratio

It is probably a 4.89 gear ratio. I have a 741 Centre section from an early A body in this ratio. Came factory equipped.

    727 rebuild price

Rebuild it yourself. If you rebuilt an engine you can do an trans. Just use the chassis manual with the exploded view diagrams. I bought a seal and gasket kit for my 727 it was 70 dollars, and I went over it myself.

    La Megantic video = wow

There are a lot of possibilities of what went wrong. There is supposed to be a manual handbrake applied every 10 train cars, to prevent this. I smell negligence in the air.

    383 with zero oil pressure.

Glad you got the issue solved, once your oil soaks into the valve guide, and it gets moving again. I'm sure it will loosen back up.

should i remove inner spring for cam break in ???

I personally removed my inner springs for break in, I actually haven't had a chance to put them back in yet either. Also I used comp cams 15w50 break in oil in my 440

    383 with zero oil pressure.

Yes if your lifter came out of bore your push rod is most likely bent too. So you will have a loose rocker arm on that particular lifter. As for if your oil pickup is bent, put like a clean piece of wood that is about 1/2" thick in pan. Your pickup should be about 3/8 inch off pan bottom. So...

    383 with zero oil pressure.

To me the lifter out of bore sounds like the most likely culprit.

    Junkyard date feels like Christmas

Good score on a big block. The way I see it, pick them while you can. They won't be around forever, and are becoming more rare. As neil young says rust never sleeps.

    Building 340 short block

To my understanding block filler is only used for drag race applications where the engine doesn't run for long periods of time. It does strengthen the block, but I would be afraid cooling would be an issue.

    Oil Pipeline Right of Way

Like mentioned above, get all the money you can out of them. But personally there is nothing to worry about with pipelines. I work with Enbridge and the pipelines are very safe if not tampered with. The Trans canada pipeline runs right through the area I live. It is twin 24" pipes. After...

    Hurt 340

I over revved my old 360 one time. It was running real rough and gutless afterward. I took the v cover off at my buddies. All looked fine. I sprayed water on the rad to cool it down too. When I left I guess the oil pressure pumped the lifter back up and all was fine.

    383 build!

Looks good, what did your d150 have before for an engine? It will sure haul *** now. My 440 that i built twists mine sideways a bit when you come onto it from a stop. Then when you let off all the weight goes back down on the front suspension. Its very sweet :-)

I agree with Rani, the 440 sure puts a smile on my face. Plus you can have like 3 of them for the price of a hemi.
