Convert 1968 Dodge Dart 2wire alternator to 1wire Tuff Stuff TFF-8509DDP

Hello all. I know this is an old topic but being a newb (one that particularly disdains electrical!) I wanted to get some advice on this conversion. About a year ago I installed a red top battery in my 68 dodge dart GT and last week I wound up on the side of the road with a completely dead...

Leaking PS gear box at top-need help

I jacked up the car and took a close look underneath yesterday. PS fluid is leaking out of the bottom of the steering wheel column. It trickles out where I've circled in red and then it drips down the idler arm. Anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Leaking PS gear box at top-need help

Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear. I don't think I'm having the same leak as the OP...but I can't tell. The second picture I posted is like the original picture from this thread. But I don't see any visible leaks around that area. What I have is a solid leak that is coming from underneath the...

Leaking PS gear box at top-need help

Can anyone help me drive a little deeper into this issue? I've attached two pics of my 68' Dart--the return valve area from the OP picture looks completely dry but I have PS fluid leaking out the drive shaft. (I think that's where it's coming from...see wet spot in other pic). Is this the same...

    Water Pump/Radiator Questions

Ok, I checked out that link and that might do it. I also just received the new pump and am slightly confused that they included some kind of adapter(see the pic). Thoughts on why they would include this? I haven't pulled the plugs. Can I pull them and get them reinstalled without any...

    Water Pump/Radiator Questions

Thanks everyone! Really appreciate the help pointing me in the right direction. I cannot believe how expensive those fittings are! 69_340_GTS: how could you tell the HO-968B is the 7/8 fitting? I looked on Jims auto parts and that one says "fitting that screws into front of...

    Water Pump/Radiator Questions

I converted the front drum brakes to power disc and after completion noticed that I was overheating. I did a lot of adjusting, etc to the brakes to make sure they weren't dragging and I feel pretty good it's not due to the brakes because I can overheat literally running the engine for five...

    Water Pump/Radiator Questions

I haven't been able to get my 68 Dart 318ci to cool properly and after doing two drain/flush and replacing the thermostat, I'm now replacing the water pump. When I did the drain/flush I replaced first with all 50/50 Peak coolant and then again with about a 70/30 mix (mostly water) plus a...

Lubricate Loaded Calipers? Brakes dragging intermittently

So I took the car out last night for about a 30 minute drive. The brakes only got "stuck" one time....which is a noticeable improvement over what I had experienced on Monday. However my engine still ran hot and was nearing the peak of the temp gauge by the time I got home. I could also smell...

Lubricate Loaded Calipers? Brakes dragging intermittently

YES, TrailBeast, this is my caliper assembly! So last night I put some silicon brake lube on the inside of the caliper where the inner brake pad will slide back and forth. I put a very light amount and it seemed like the pad moved a little easier. I also lubed the back of both brake pads: the...

Thanks mguner, your comment contributed nothing meaningful to this post.

Lubricate Loaded Calipers? Brakes dragging intermittently

LOL---this caliper is a single piston caliper which only pushes out the inner brake pad. The outer brake pad just sits in the caliper. Not sure if you can tell from the picture from my initial post...I can post additional pics if that'll help. This caliper seems to be an anomaly!

Lubricate Loaded Calipers? Brakes dragging intermittently

Redfish--but the way this caliper is designed it seems as if the only moving part is the piston which pushes the inner pad against the rotor. I'm a newb, and certainly no brake expert, but I don't see how the outer pad can do anything except just sit against the rotor if the only moving part is...

Lubricate Loaded Calipers? Brakes dragging intermittently

So should the pad that sits against the piston should just slide freely inside the caliper without and lubrication? It certainly doesn't move freely so perhaps I do need to file down the edges....I thought some silicon brake grease might get me there as well. I'll try to figure out how to get...

Lubricate Loaded Calipers? Brakes dragging intermittently

All new disc brake kit. New MC, booster, hard lines, prop valve, flex hoses, rotors, spindles, upper control arm, brake assemblies. All from a kit from Classic Performance Parts(CPP). I've had the system power bled and it's working well...except the random sticking. I've also emailed CPP to...

Lubricate Loaded Calipers? Brakes dragging intermittently

Ok, so now I've been able to go for a few drives with the new power disc conversion in and new wheels and it turns out that my brakes are randomly dragging. It's typically once I'm stopped at a long light, then I go to hit the gas and can tell the brakes are locked up. Then I stomp the brake...

    A quick thanks!

A quick thanks to all the members who helped me figure out what to do with my budget this year, disc-brake conversion, vacuum problems, etc. etc. I really appreciate all the help and now should be able to enjoy the fruits of your labor pretty reliably! I'm especially loving the Coy wheels! A...

    Is this right?

Does anyone have any recommendations on where to get another cruise control switch like the one pictured? Turns out it's not working properly. Thanks!

    Vacuum Problem

Thank you all very much. So I decided to pay to have the system bled to rule out air in the system. So now I have excellent stopping power....but the brake pedal will not come back up. The pedal goes down and just sticks. Ugh--now what!?

    Vacuum Problem

Ok, so I have the new vacuum tree installed. Per the picture of my old vacuum tree you can see I have two lines running to the distributor plus a tiny line(leftmost in the picture)...and now I have the big 3/8 line running out the top and an additional 1/4 port that I have taped over right now...

Is this the intake manifold vacuum?

Ok, so I have the new vacuum tree installed. Per the first picture you can see I have two lines running to the distributor plus a tiny line(leftmost in the picture)...and now I have the big 3/8 line running out the top and an additional 1/4 port that I have taped over right now with electric...

Is this the intake manifold vacuum?

Thanks Brown and Krazy--one last question--so I've been reading up on the vacuum fitting since I need to obtain one that has the large fitting coming out the top. Some of the material I came across indicated that I may not have enough vacuum to run the big port out of that tree which has the...

Is this the intake manifold vacuum?

Ok, so rather than the first pic where I'm using the vacuum tree potentially to connect to the brake booster. With this pic am I better off capping the circled part at the valve cover and rerouting that line from the carb to the brake booster? I finally got my hard lines in and the brakes bled...

Are the tie rod ends the same from 63-76?

So I purchased ES319L for the driver's side outside tie rod end. But it appears the threads are going the wrong direction! Anyone have any thoughts on what the correct part would be? I seem to be going in circles at this point. Summit just told me to buy a new sleeve to match the ES319L I...

67 Barracuda Disc Brake Conversion Kit

I went with classic performance power disc conversion kit through summit. I've installed all the wheel components and now am working on routing new hardlines to the prop valve. As long as it winds up working I'll be happy...and all new components. It was just a pita that they didn't provide...

    proportioning valve questions

Thanks Gerald--yeah I did call Classic Performance Parts....they were less than helpful and basically said I would just need to look up GM instructions because that's all the components they use. None of their documentation online was helpful. I definitely learned a lesson about picking vendors...

    proportioning valve questions

Here's what the new prop valve looks like. It seems like it's backwards from the OE setup...so I think if I cut my rear line behind the distribution block and then use a union I can plumb it into the port coming out the front(1) of the new prop valve. The two ports (one on side(2) and one at...

    proportioning valve questions

Ok, I'm going through the same thing with my 68 Dart right now and my conversion kit showed up with a proportioning valve suspended right underneath the new master cylinder. I no longer need that splitter/prop valve thingy pictured in post #4 right? Essentially the new prop valve will replace...

    Disc Brake Conversion Help

Ok! More questions for the pro's! :) I'm working on installing my disc break conversion kit from classic performance. I must admit it's been frustrating for a few reasons but overall is going pretty well. I was hoping someone could help me with a few questions tho... 1) The attached...
