I stand by my statement that I have never seen another one. Nor has anybody else been able to come up with one. So it doesn't sound like common practice to me. Hell, I would like to know it's something common so I could get rid of it! It also doesn't have the Pentastar casting or any other...

If it was a quality control move, why would the change the mold to the "SAMPLE" mold to check it? lol That would defeat the purpose of a QC now, wouldn't it? lol

I would like to see some pictures of all of these if they are so common.... Nobody else that I speak to has ever seen them. I guess the proof would be in the pudding!

I also have a pair of 426 Hemi carbs that were built by Ed Garlits (Don Garlits brother) prior to 1972. Story has it that they originally came from Richard Petty Enterprises!

Yes, it looks like the one shown, except there is no "clock", no full date code, and the word SAMPLE cast just above the "48" of the part number..... How do I put pics on here? I don't have URL whatever........

Most of us are aware of the performance benefits of the factory 3462848 cast iron intake manifold from 1970, right? Well I have an NOS intake that was factory cast with the word "SAMPLE" on the runner beside the part number, and the so-called date code is 6-24-R !!! AND there isn't a "clock"...

Has anyone ever seen a big block A-Body with a 4-speed trans that had a large 4.80 imput bearing retainer?

Yes, the bottom piece is a hood ornament. Both pieces came together in a butch of Mopar parts that I picked up. The round emblem is a Valiant grille piece which is almost 5" across with three mounting studs on the rear of it. I was trying to figure out the exact year. Not sure if the hood...
