360 Six Pack lots of initial timing!!!

take a compression test on 2 cylinders. for timing at any rpm you basically increase it until the rpms no longer increase much as you turn the distributor then try it there but you may need to back it off around 2 degrees. you "can" run a lot of advance in a low compression engine but that...

Where to start with a rusty block?

oxalic acid will remove the rust from the pits, however, using a small bottle brush occasionally in the lifter bores will speed up the process.

Where to start with a rusty block?

diesel oil and acetone will not remove heavy rust, plus oxalic acid is far faster and far cheaper.

Is this a good street setup for hauling butt? (new info)

if your heads are closed chamber and your pistons are flat top, you want between .043" and .034" of squish/quench clearance. run the 3.55 gears as suggested and 10.0 compression. if you run vacuum secondaries, tune the secondaries with different springs until it runs best. set your timing...

    Degree a camshaft.

I have installed countless cams without degreeing them and every engine ran just fine . The problems with cams that are significantly off are usually with non name brand ones . Lunati, Comp, and Howards are very close if not spot on.

slant 6 rebuild and upgrade list

you will turn it into scrap metal with 9.1 compression and 12 psi of boost. a 6 cyl mopar with a turbo will not be snappy, you need a supercharger to make it snappy.

slant 6 rebuild and upgrade list

run slightly less compression so you can run more boost. use 2618 material pistons get a custom cam made . chris straub is a good choice for a cam and it will work better if you get the head flowed and give him those numbers also.

How much extra HP can I realize from adding a cam and 4bbl to slant 6.

you aint gonna get another 80 hp out of it unless you use a supercharger or nitrous etc . you can easily stroke the engine but that costs big bucks. if you want a big increase in power feel, you should g to a bigger engine. .

Converting LA 360 to roller cam

why do you want to keep the lift low? that cam is too small for 4.10 gears i would make sure you have at least 9.5 compression

2618 material pistons are best for boost.

    Opinions on preliminary tune welcome----

ok, 14 hg is much closer to what it should be. try advancing it at idle as i suggested . perhaps your damper slipped some and it really isnt 17 or 18 now . irregrdless, the engine will ALWAYS tell you what it wants. try one step hotter plugs. if you have a high voltage ignition, set the plug...

    Opinions on preliminary tune welcome----

Change one thing at a time . I would do the plugs first . My comment about the jets is that they "should" be around 58's but I would look at other things first. One of the things I would do is get it warm, then with the distributor vacuum hose disconnected, advance the timing 3 to 4 degrees ...

    Opinions on preliminary tune welcome----

A low compression engine is less volumetricaly efficient than a high compression one and will therefore need to be jetted differently if all else is the same.

67 slant with 1920 holley dies when engine heats up and choke opens.

You should set the timing curve for your engine to eliminate the possibility of incorrect timing contributing to your problem. If you floor the car from a dead stop and it hesitates, it can most certainly be because of a jet that s too small.
