I was also a little concerned about the whole ladder bar thing. Something could be tweaked or cracked and I won't be able to see it... :( I built a stroked 318 (390) that should be just over 500HP at the flywheel.

I'm picking this up for $850. I thought it was worth the risk.

Wouldn't recommend what, that gear? I've ran a 3.91 on a street car before, although it was a B body. I'm not sure why it would matter though.

I'm putting it in a 64 Valiant Signet Convertible. The seller said the carrier is a clutch-type and the gear is 3.91.

I've heard that these early B body rear ends could work without any cutting, but would I was planning on moving the perches. I've seen many people talking about using this width rear in our A bodys and dialing in the tire location with rim offset. I'm really hoping I don't have to cut it, but...

I am sure it's the one in front, based on some of the other photos. I could always just cut them off unless there would be some benefit to running that setup on a street car... :)

Picking up a rear end on Saturday. The seller sent me some pics and something looked strange to me (I've circled it in red). I believe this rear is from a 65-67 B body (59 1/2" wide, from drum to drum). I'm going to see if I can get by with using some backspacing... I've never owned an 8 3/4...

I was definitely going to seam seal the areas that are lap welded. It seems a little strange to put seam sealer the other parts of sheet metal that just happen to be bare. I'm not saying it's a bad idea, I guess I was just assuming that I should apply a paint-type product, not a silicon based...

Ended up cutting out 2 1/4 inches. So far everything has gone very smoothly. There are two brackets in the rear that are going to be a challenge, but I have some ideas on how to get everything lined up properly. What are you guys coating the bare metal with after a job like this? I'm not ready...

I forgot to mention that this is a push button transmission. I was hoping to get a little $ to help with my own project, but at this point I would rather see this stuff get used. I just hate throwing it away :(

Thanks for the tips! Since I'm redoing all of my upholstery anyway, I am planning on modifying the frames to fit. Hopefully it won't be too bad. Also, 57 spot welds and one looong cut later... I managed to get one side out! Yay, for progress! Now for the hard part...

Thanks for the link! I started tearing more things apart over the weekend, and now I'm pretty sure it was white on the exterior. what threw me off was that most of the inside metal is painted red. Maybe that was done because it had red interior? Anyway, thanks!

That looks purdy :D I wasn't planning on rear discs, but I'm not throwing it out yet either. I was hoping to find something that I could install for $1k or so. Even if it was open or not quite the gears that I wanted. Then I would configure it exactly how I want it when I can.
