i have a 727 with a shift kit and 2500 stall in my 340 powered 69 cuda and i love this tranny i blew the original 904 and i would never go back to another.the 727 is one of the best trannys chrysler ever built=P~

looks like alot of work ahead of you i would keep the 318 and ditch that p.o.s 904 and go for a 727 its a way better tranny thats virtually bullet proof

by far an 8 3/4 rearend is a far better choice that way if you decide to upgrade to a v8 you wont have to swap rearends parts are more readily availablefor the 8 3/4
