How much is a "bit"? If your lines still have air bubbles, you won't have full functionality. Air is more compressible than brake fluid. Try to eliminate all the "weeps" and leaks, then do a complete system bleed.

As stated, the rod is held with a rubber safety retainer that fits into a machined groove inside the piston bore. All you need to do is get physical with it.

Some pretty hefty hydraulic pressure is exerted on those fittings when you stand on the brake pedal. Don't want them blowing off at the wrong moment. Jerry
