    master cylinder grommet

Check with Richard Ehrenberg HERE . I bought one of the newer dual reservoir master cylinders with the screw caps from him a few years ago, and I think he also has those grommets for sale.

    Wtf!

How much is a "bit"? If your lines still have air bubbles, you won't have full functionality. Air is more compressible than brake fluid. Try to eliminate all the "weeps" and leaks, then do a complete system bleed.

    Disc upgrade question...

The lines are readily available at most auto parts stores. Just make sure they understand it is for disc brakes. You already have a proportioning valve for the old drum-drum system. I'm just asking for someone to chime in to confirm whether you should swap it for a disc-drum valve. It is the...

Did you also swap over the proportioning valve. I don't know if it is necessary.... anyone?

Glad I didn't throw it away

Aaron and I have been freshening up an 8-3/4" '69 Charger rearend to put under his '74 Duster. When we trial-fitted a new set of rear hard brake lines, they didn't appear to be bent correctly to line up with the brass "T" on the end of the flexible brake hose (the one bolted to the axle tube...

I need all new brake hardware

I am rebuilding a '68 Charger 8-3/4" rear end. When bought, it only had backing plates and badly rusted drums - no brake hardware at all. First, how do I determine the proper brake size to buy? Second, where is a good place to get all new brake hardware (springs, cables, etc.)? Thanks...

    rebuilding front disc calipers

Yep, the fixed caliper-style would have four seals and four dust boots on each side. Is that the parts you saw in the picture? If not, maybe you saw the two retainer clips and two anti-rattle springs that are used on the sliding-type calipers (each side). That would be four pieces. This gets...

    rebuilding front disc calipers

The 74 Dart Sport I did with my son has what are called sliding calipers. The only parts involved in "rebuilding" them was a new seal and dust boot, just like you described. I'm sure you're not referring to the anti-rattle springs, etc. The part that is throwing me for a loop is that, as...

Neep help with Rear Drums A.S.A.P Please

Are they small bolt pattern or large? I just read this on another site: "All Mopar rear drum brakes interchange to all axle housings, so long as these rules are followed: (1) small bolt pattern drums go on small bolt pattern axles (i.e. 10x1.75" drums can only be used with 5x4" bolt pattern...

Will this work with an 8 1/4?

I'll answer that question (I'm his dad). He ended up buying an 8-3/4" and I am going through it right now while he is off to college - go figure. This rear end is a 741 case with 2.94 gear set from a '67 B-body (and no brake hardware). We plan on replacing axle bearings and seals, and still...

    HELP disc brake swapping

I believe he is referring to the small rubber bump stop that prevents the control arm from bottoming out against metal, not the "bumper" on the front or rear of the car. Jerry

Brake pedal rod for master cylinder - which to use?

As I understand it, the sole purpose for the rubber retainer is simply to prevent the push rod from popping out of the back of the piston if your foot slips off the pedal and it snaps up. Otherwise, when will there ever be an upward force on the rod??? As a simple substitution for the...

Brake pedal rod for master cylinder - which to use?

As stated, the rod is held with a rubber safety retainer that fits into a machined groove inside the piston bore. All you need to do is get physical with it.

    Proportioning Valve

Some pretty hefty hydraulic pressure is exerted on those fittings when you stand on the brake pedal. Don't want them blowing off at the wrong moment. Jerry

    Master cylinder puking fluid

I recently posted a message regarding this same problem with leaking on my son's Dart Sport. I'm considering installing one of the newer, lighter, aluminum master cylinders with the screw-on caps, found on later model vehicles. I understand it will require a 2-bolt to 4-bolt adapter, but I...

Which master cylinder has the screw-on caps?

I guess I'm not really clear on this, either. With the aluminum M/C and the adapter plate, will I still use my old push rod? Also, what about using the old distribution block? Jerry

Which master cylinder has the screw-on caps?

I picked up an aluminum M/C with two screw-on caps today at my local salvage yard. It came out of a New Yorker and has these numbers on the bottom: 09104 4485297 Anyone know if it is one that will work, assuming I get one of the 2-bolt to 4-bolt adapters? It seems as though the two chambers...

Which master cylinder has the screw-on caps?

Much to our dismay, the lid on Aaron's M/C has been slowly leaking fluid down onto the firewall and has eaten some of the paint off. I got a new flashy chrome one and it leaks some too. So, is there one of those newer master cylinders with the screw-on lid, rather than the lift-off lid held...
