(unrelated rant from your build) When I tore down my 340 for rebuild, I cleaned block and blew out head bolt holes. One hole puked out huge glob of grease/gunk. There was no way that head bolt could have been tensioned when torqued. And that was original assembly in 72.

Minot ND has state fair grounds with dirt track and drag strip next to it. When drags run late and overlap the roundys, the dust can get on strip and make it slippery. They had to shut down early for dusty track. Almost wrecked some cars.

With the 5.9 magnum, you get the roller lifters. Don`t have to worry about wiping cam. And you can reuse stock lifters. You can have head drilled to use either la or magnum intakes.

Why fight the big compromise of highway or trap speed at track. Gear it for highway speed at rpm that you want with a bigger diam street tire. Then take it to strip & find what it will run. Then get a smaller diam tire that will get you your rpm at finish line. I have a duster with 408...

That's a pretty good 60ft time for leaf springs. But one other suggestion: Adjustable Pinion snubber set contacting floor or 1/2 in from floor when on ground.

Thanks for all the responses and suggestions. I am going to Jamestown ND for the once a year event on airport. It's run well and draws a lot of cars. I set the shocks at 60/40 to start and will see from there. The old shocks were iffy. So hope it helps consistency.
