    The poly 318 manifold will not work on any LA engine (273, 318, 340, 360). As far as value, it does hold some value as it is not commonly seen now a days. Depending on condition it could be worth (IMO) $150-$300. Of course, value is in the eye of the beholder. There was no LA version of the 318...

    Is the manifold low like the first pic or high like the second ? Notice the hieght from the carb base in relation to the thermostat.

    I agree with these guys, don't do it. Too much work and fabrication and in the long run time and money. Then, if you go to sell it who is going to want a Dart with a Buick drivetrain ?

    If it is a matching numbers engine, I would do what ever it takes to use it. IMO, I would rather have a 340 than a 360.

    I would go with a stock 340 replacement as well. Don't over cam it, most people make that mistake, and a stock 340 cam is more than enough to give impressive results.

    engine sitting - surface rust

    I would not use scotch brite pads. Coat it with heavy oil, let it sit for a few days a see what it looks like. You might be ok.

    Engine Re-Assy Problem

    Had a simiar problem with a buddys 340 about 20 years ago, if I remember right, the pistons were pressed on the connecting rods backwards. Just like you, six of the eight were fine, but two were backwards and it locked the motor.
