thanks rick. i do not have nor want to spend where i do not have to. as i am putting a bigger cam, but stock other than that.
i figured i had it, so i wanted to try and use it.
also, i do not plan to run headers. stock 340 manifolds
ok, i have heard how horrible the torker 340 intake is. ii have one, but do not have a stock one.
is the torker any improvement over stock,, or is it about the same just a little lighter?
that's as in cranck and piston/rod choice!!!!!!!!!
i am putting the numbers correct engine back into the fc7 dart, but am looking for ballz out of it, without going extreme.
i am not looking for any huge h.p numbers, but yet a unknown figure more than the normal 340s' i have had.
all were...
yea, luckily it is only one cylinder. it is standard bore right now, so i am wondering if it can go back to standard bore in that cylinder to match the others, or maybe cut all to like .20, since it has the low compression pistons anyway.lol
thanks adam. i did sell it to a member on here, but am learning from past mistakes, and decided to pull apart. found an issue. he backed out, so i have to get something for it, or i would give it away.lol
Well, it is a 73 340. It had all the origional pistons, rods and all bearings had a date mark of 73 on them. This leads me to believe it was never opened up.
I cracked the block stupidly!. One piston was a little stuck, cause someone left a spark plug out of the head for the last 25 years...
ok, i have a 340 that has a hairline crackin cylinder number 2.
is this block toast, or can it be sleeve?
who with first hand knowledge can give me any info. , so any help would be appreiated
any one know where to get a sleeve? what do they go for? about what shoould it cost at machine shop?
hey, i just got done painting the duster, so ill have to wait till tommorow to check, but i believe i have my old one sitting on the shelf with the little thread piece too. i had to remove it to put on a 90 degree one. just pay 5 bucks shipping on it and you can have it. i have both pieces you...
sounds too fishy to me!. come on, just the rebuild parts will set you back more than the price. need to make sure it was not installed in car, run with no oil, or rings are bad and then they yanked it out to pawn off!
also, i have seen alot of guys rahter polish the aluminum real shiney rather than run a chrome one, as when the chrome starts to peel, it looks horrible. go at it with some aluminum polish!
when you take them to a machine shop, they will know how far to cut them. they will first check them for thickness, and if they are even able to be cut. i had a set cut, cost me like 40.00 for all 8, and also re-weighed, so they were all exact.
yea, good idea, but do not want to go over budget on this car!. i already put myself over, by using this engine and 4 speed in my pink car, when i could of sold it all as a package.
yes, the x heads ar matched to the intake
well, i have a set of fresh 202 j heads,, butif i bolt them to this intake, will i lose any power due to the intake being port matched, and the heads not being matched?
ok, i thought at first this was the stock 340 intake, but it looks to sit so high. i pulled the heads off the 340, and they seem to be ported? they do match the gaskets that i took off.
cab you tell me what the advantage i will gain from running this intake and heads over a set of j- heads i...
